Redman's solo career continued throughout the remainder of the decade, with each of his albums selling at least half a million copies. His musical style has remained very consistent, rarely deviating from a combination of Redman's unique braggadocious wit and hard, P-funk-influenced beats. In addition to releasing albums under his own name, he is part of the group Def Squad (along with Keith Murray and Erick Sermon) with whom he released the 1998 album El Nino, and also has formed a close partnership with labelmate Method Man (of the Wu-Tang Clan) with whom he released the 1999 album Blackout!. The long-awaited follow-up, Blackout! 2, apeared in 2009.
He has also collaborated extensively, both with hip-hop artists and with artists from other genres; the long list of artists and groups he has worked with includes Wyclef Jean, Snoop Dogg, Scarface, The Offspring, Christina Aguilera, Eminem, Gorillaz, D'Angelo, Me'shell Ndegeocello, 2Pac, Jodeci, Cypress Hill, De La Soul, KRS One and IAM.
In 2001 Redman co-starred with Method Man in the stoner comedy film How High, which featured the pair playing two marijuana-addled students attempting to survive at Harvard. Method Man and Redman also appear in the Def Jam Vendetta video game series, often as Tag Team partners, and briefly had their own television sitcom, Method & Red, on Fox during the 2004-2005 season.
Redman is also featured on the video game "True Crime: New York City", in which the central character interacts with an undercover street cop based upon the rap star, who also provides the voice for him.

Two hot boys that put coke in your ear
Fuck pimp, I wanna get dope of the year
Til I die and I smoke with a lear
Boost my career, and bare arms heavy
What you trynna get, I was there already
Yeah, I'm a wise ass, take one to know one
Asshole Academy, yeah I'm the spokesman
Even pigs love the Boss Hog CD
What you find hard, I do it easy
I can see why the next guy wanna be me
Yeah, I'm a problem, ya'll can't solve 'em
Straight up bitch like Cartman mama
Keep a 'brown fox' like the 'ill na na'
B.O. 2, bitch, we bring the drama
How the fuck ya'll feeling tonight?
How the fuck ya'll feeling tonight? For real
Yup, I think my mind playing tricks on me
I hold the weight like my name set the smith on me
It's Meth & Doc, nigga, back on that shit, homey
Back on the strip, how many women wanna strip for me?
This nigga spit, don't he? My flow is heavy
As Katrina when she broke the levy's, real as they get, whoadie
Ya'll better get to know me, I'm top notch
Got a thing for the top spot, too hot for you to hold me
When niggas ugly you gotta cut me a dime
Little Asian honey is funny, she love me long time
Get this money, if you don't mind, got money on my mind
'Cause I'm hungry, never dummy, the sun forever shine, nigga
If you rolling with us, then throw your hands up
We need Bricks and Staten Island to stand up
Here's your chance, my niggas, go 'head and man up
Blunt Brothers, see we at a level they can't touch
How the fuck ya'll feeling tonight?
How the fuck ya'll feeling tonight? For real
Yo, Redman (Method Man) back in the building
(We can ship gold) fuck one million
(Underground rap) That's what you hearing
(Middle finger up like fuck ya'll feelings)
(Yeah, yeah, fuck ya'll feelings)
That's how it sound when them boys be wheeling
(Yeah, yeah, fuck ya'll feelings)
(Niggas can't eat, then it's back to robbing and stealing)
Give it up, nigga!
In the opening lines of Redman's song Intro, the rapper sets the tone for the rest of the track. He boasts about his skills and success, suggesting that he's one of the best in the game. He says that he wants to be "Dope of the Year," and that he's already been where his competitors are trying to go. Redman has always been known for his witty and often vulgar lyrics, and this song is no different. He talks about his ability to talk trash on TV and how even the police officers like his music.
In the second part of the song, Method Man joins in, and they both start spitting rhymes about their dominance in the rap game. They talk about their abilities on the mic and their experiences with women. They also address the fact that in some communities, people have to resort to crime to get by when they can't make ends meet. Overall, the song emphasizes the rappers' confidence and their belief that they are at the top of their game.
