Redman's solo career continued throughout the remainder of the decade, with each of his albums selling at least half a million copies. His musical style has remained very consistent, rarely deviating from a combination of Redman's unique braggadocious wit and hard, P-funk-influenced beats. In addition to releasing albums under his own name, he is part of the group Def Squad (along with Keith Murray and Erick Sermon) with whom he released the 1998 album El Nino, and also has formed a close partnership with labelmate Method Man (of the Wu-Tang Clan) with whom he released the 1999 album Blackout!. The long-awaited follow-up, Blackout! 2, apeared in 2009.
He has also collaborated extensively, both with hip-hop artists and with artists from other genres; the long list of artists and groups he has worked with includes Wyclef Jean, Snoop Dogg, Scarface, The Offspring, Christina Aguilera, Eminem, Gorillaz, D'Angelo, Me'shell Ndegeocello, 2Pac, Jodeci, Cypress Hill, De La Soul, KRS One and IAM.
In 2001 Redman co-starred with Method Man in the stoner comedy film How High, which featured the pair playing two marijuana-addled students attempting to survive at Harvard. Method Man and Redman also appear in the Def Jam Vendetta video game series, often as Tag Team partners, and briefly had their own television sitcom, Method & Red, on Fox during the 2004-2005 season.
Redman is also featured on the video game "True Crime: New York City", in which the central character interacts with an undercover street cop based upon the rap star, who also provides the voice for him.

This is DJ Sayyyy WHAT?! on this motherfucker
Comin at you live on WKYA Radio from the Brick City
The weather is callin for it to be hotter than a MOTHERFUCKER out there
So crack a brew, roll a blunt, cause the phone lines are open right now
We've expanded to cities like Atlanta, D.C., Tampa, Chicago
Dallas, Memphis, Detroit and L.A.
So call in now, 1-800-High-as-a-Motherfucker
DOCTOR DOCTOR! Tell me how ya do it
Spit hot shit like it ain't nuttin to it..
DOCTOR DOCTOR! Tell me how ya do it
Spit hot shit like it ain't nuttin to it..
[Redman]
Yo, when I walk I stalk like a dog (AROOF!)
Writin "fuck ya hometown" on ya wall (AROOF!)
WKYA! Them niggaz that'll whip out the dick
And piss ALL in your gar-ments
When I come around, son lay 'em down
This Homey the Clown play around so pay it now
Sweepin the block up, Mayor Doc, he in town
Ridin the highway at night to run a deer down; I look for the action
Funk Doc, I don't look when I'm crashin!
I'm so dope I could bundle cook-up by the aspirin
Gaspin like it's Aspen, no air
Beef we bring it on with tap shoes and hope the po'-po' there
Graduated, they said Red would go nowhere (uh-uh)
Now, SOURCE AWARDS, ride a water buffalo there
Polo Gear, holes in it, the fo'-fo' wear
Ass out, check the weather report for cold air (brrrr)
On your hottest day of the summer, I snowmobile in
Stack new jacks in the Carter, blow the building
It's WKYA muh'fucker
Bringin trouble your way, so duck muh'fucker!
Yeahh! Two-hundred and fifty-five-thousand pounds
Of guerilla shit funk fo' yo' ass motherfucker!
Bricks to Brook-nam, we hold it down, PPP Def Squad
Ya tell me once and I'll tell you again
Pull out the mac-10 and rob yo' friend, yeahhh!
(Fucker) WKYA (We kickin yo' ass)
The lyrics to Redman's "WKYA" are an ode to the radio show of the same name. The song starts with a radio announcer, DJ Sayyy WHAT?!, introducing himself and the show. He tells listeners to roll a blunt, crack open a beer and dial the station's number. Redman then comes in with his characteristic punchy flow, boasting his skills in laying down rhymes that "ain't nuttin' to it". He talks about his confidence and how he likes to stir up trouble, urging listeners to "duck" when trouble comes their way.
The song's reference to "WKYA" is a nod to the radio station based in Brick City, New Jersey. Redman's gritty rhymes paint a picture of his tough upbringing in the city and his ability to survive through wit and skill.
