Refused's lyrics focus mostly on revolutionary politics, drawing on Marxism and anarchism. Formed from the ashes of Step Forward, by the time of their first album the band already had a strong anti-establishment profile. Members were all vegan straight edge until their last show in 1998. After the initial breakup, Lyxzén formed other bands such as the (International) Noise Conspiracy, AC4, and INVSN.

Tannhäuser / Derivè
Refused Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Just about anywhere.
Disorientated but alive.
Boredom won't get me tonight.
Let's bring this city to life - to light - tonight.
There is no destination
But with a goal in mind we can all be realistic and demand the impossible.
Let's bring this city to life - to light - tonight.
The lyrics to Refused's song Tannhäuser / Derivè express a sense of disorientation and uncertainty about the future, but also a determination to make the most of the present moment. The opening line, "So where do we go from here?" suggests a lack of direction or purpose, but the following line, "Just about anywhere," suggests a willingness to explore and take risks.
The lyrics go on to describe a desire to break free from boredom and routine, and to bring the city to life through some kind of collective action or rebellion. The repeated refrain, "Let's bring this city to life - to light - tonight," suggests a sense of urgency and the need to act before it's too late.
Overall, the song seems to be about embracing change and taking control of one's own destiny, even if the path forward is not always clear or easy. It encourages listeners to set lofty goals and strive for the impossible, while also acknowledging the practical constraints of the present moment.
Line by Line Meaning
So where do we go from here?
We have many options for our next move.
Just about anywhere.
There are endless possibilities for what we can do.
Disorientated but alive.
Despite feeling lost, we are still living.
Boredom won't get me tonight.
Tonight will not be a dull night for me.
Let's bring this city to life - to light - tonight.
We should make this city come to life tonight.
There is no destination
We do not have a specific end point in mind.
But with a goal in mind we can all be realistic and demand the impossible.
If we have a goal, we can push ourselves to achieve the seemingly impossible.
Let's bring this city to life - to light - tonight.
We should make this city come to life tonight.

Every street is an adventure
And every road becomes a thrill
Because it can be
Every turn we take
And every decision that we don't make
Even the decisions we don't make
Will bring us into the secrets of the town
Every corner we turn will lead us
Every corner we turn will lead us down the labryinth
And every desire that we earn
Will guide us, alive, living (living), loving(loving) and searching
And searching
So where do we go from here?
Just about anywhere
Disorientated but alive
Boredom won't get me tonight

@W41ton A'ight man, I got a list together I think you might like.
Dark Waters by Vvilderness
Hymn to Apollo by Kawir
Call of the Ancestors by Celtefog
Guardians by Saor (Really any song off this album would fit here, this is just my favorite. It does admittedly drag a little bit at times, but a worthwhile listen nonetheless, if only for the surprisingly tasteful bagpipe in the intro)
Der Blutharsch by Minenwerfer
I Am the Abyss by Shylmagoghnar (instrumental track)
Caladan Brood, Sojourner, Havukruunu, Gallowbraid and Eldamar are some bands that have great, atmospheric/epic/pagan/folk sounds. I hope you enjoy these songs as much as I do!
Edit: Gotta mention the band Obsequiae as well, can't believe I forgot them.

Many years ago I heard this in a movie trailer for a film called "Undertow" and I was in love with this sound. The way they used it with the visuals was incredible! I have been looking for this song ever since and finally someone shared the title and I have played this video about 100 times.
