I struggled with addiction and my closest friend was also struggling with their own addiction to prescription pills

Shit got the worst out me, my mama couldn't stop it
My addiction brought out the worst in me and despite my mother's efforts, she was unable to prevent me from using drugs

'Cause she ain't know about me, my close friends was all fiends
My mother was unaware of my addiction and my closest friends were also struggling with addiction

For money, that's faulty, what I learned from that cost me
I learned that chasing money through drug use is a flawed and dangerous path, and it came at a great cost to my well-being

My addiction almost destroyed me and I came very close to losing myself

Have you ever been stopped by the police and your friends had illegal substances or weapons in the car with them?

I may not have personally experienced these things, but I am aware of the dangers that come with living in certain environments

I ain't no gangsta nigga or street nigga who do that often
I do not consider myself to be a violent or criminal person, nor do I engage in such behavior on a regular basis

But the way my life set up, I know all them
Due to the circumstances of my life and the environment I grew up in, I am familiar with the dangers and risks associated with living in certain areas

I remain determined to succeed despite any obstacles or challenges that may come my way
