Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Reginald Dixon's song "Tiger Rag" are simple and repetitive. The phrase "Hold that tiger" is repeated seven times, followed by "Where's that tiger?" also repeated seven times. The phrase "Tiger Rag" appears to refer to a specific tune or melody, which the performer is urging the audience to hold onto and maintain. The word "tiger" likely symbolizes something powerful or dominant, perhaps a specific person, idea, or feeling that the performer wants to channel and project to the audience.

The repetition of the lyrics could also be interpreted as a call-and-response, with the audience being prompted to respond to the performer's "Hold that tiger" with their own "Where's that tiger?" The lyrics are open to interpretation, but they seem to encourage the audience to join in and participate in the performance, creating a lively and interactive atmosphere.

There will never be another Reginald Dixon. He has a number of copyists who are fairly entertaining but not like Reg. I saw him many, many times in my teens at the Tower -
He was always recieved with relish by his many fans. His Sunday Concerts were carefully arranged and very varied in their programme content and very entertaining.
Best Wishes from the old pro in the Welsh Rhondda Valley. Take Care, PAUL @ComptonLodgeStudios.
