Il S'Appelle Reviens
Regine Lyrics

Overall Meaning

The French song "Il s'appelle reviens" by Regine is about a woman who lent her beloved Charlie to someone, presuming that they would take care of him as if it were their own. The singer, however, pleads for the woman to remember that Charlie is important to her and asks that he be returned to her unharmed. The woman promises to return Charlie without fail the next morning, but when she returns, she does so with a different Charlie, one who does not belong to the singer. When she returns with the second Charlie, the singer becomes angry and upset. She realizes that she will never lend anything again and warns the woman that she too will not lend anything again.

The story of this song can be interpreted in many ways. One might see it as a cautionary tale about lending anything, particularly something that is sentimental or has meaning. The singer trusted the woman to take care of Charlie, but she did not. There is also a sense of betrayal and loss, as the singer has lost something that is important to her. The difference between the two Charlies may also symbolize a loss of trust between the singer and the woman, as well as a loss of trust in others in general.
