The band’s lyrical approach is mainly poetic, with lyrics dealing with introspection, the search for knowledge and emotional release as well as the person's primitive need for magic, ascension and ritual. In late 2003, Reino Ermitaño self-released their first full-length Reino Ermitaño, recorded at Vituchi’s Studio by Tavo Castillo, and co-produced, mixed and mastered by Lalo Williams.
Three years later Brujas del Mar was released on PsycheDOOMelic Records label.
In 2008 the successor Rituales Interiores saw the light of day through I Hate label.
Latest album to date Veneración del Fuego was released in 2012 again through I Hate.
The band name translates to Hermit's Kingdom (approximately anyway).
The current line-up consists of:
Marcos Coifman on bass
Tania Duarte doing the vocals
Eloy Arturo on guitars

The lyrics of Reino Ermitaño's song Escudo y Cruz describe the idea of self-protection and destruction and the ways in which individuals create their defenses. The first line of the lyrics talks about the shield that one forges in the forge of their soul, made out of fire and the best metal. This shield is supposed to protect the individual, but it's also capable of destroying them when being attacked by the bloody spears of civilization. In this sense, the conflict is not only external but also internal, as the shield that one creates to protect themselves becomes part of their skin and identity.
The second part of the lyrics delves into the concept of freedom and how it can be a deceptive valor. The lyrics mention a valley of freedom that is enchanted, where the individual is cornered by those who also carry shields. The individual fights to survive, but they are never alone, as the enemies are always there, reflecting wounds back to them. In this sense, the shield becomes a metaphor for the way we protect ourselves from our own vulnerability and the ways in which we can hurt ourselves with our own defenses. The last line of the song provides a powerful conclusion to this idea, stating that the shield we forge becomes a part of our identity, and therefore, we must be aware of its effects on us.
