It takes a few rewatches to understand something as deep as this in its entirety, yet I believe I now know what the meaning behind this chapter is, what Bog represents, and why GG won (or, more accurately, survived.)

To begin, the song is very telling of what this story is about. The lyrics describe the often critical nature of the social world within the internet. Anonymity breeds audacity.
Next of course would be to observe how GG (or Michael) sees this world. It is filled with things lurking in the darkness, watching him from afar, silently judging. He grows paranoid but soon finds solice in the adoption of a new mindset, peace and self assurance to drown out any negativity. For there is one rule on the internet that everyone should know by now, and that is "don't feed the trolls." Leave them be and stay the course.
This frame of mind however is not without its own dillusions. "What if I become detatched from my own community? What if I push my friends away?" Understanding that this was paranoia speaking, he casted away such doubts.
Enter Bog, the manifestation of the worst critics and haters of GG's entire career. Having a deep desperation to maintain face, GG fought and fought but to no avail. The harder you hit them, the harder they bounce back. There was no beating them, they wanted to get under his skin and tear him down from the inside out and would stop at nothing to do so.
GG almost lost his will to go on, but in the midst of his turmoil he remembered that state of mind he once had. Instead of struggling to hold onto his pride, he let the harsh comments and trolls come, for he knew that they would grow tired. Through all of the hate and harshness, he felt hurt (as seen from the tears when the armor rebuilds itself), but he didn't show it, instead maintaining positivity, calmness, and determination. They eventually did grow tired of his positivity, his calmness, his determination; they got bored and subsided.
In the end, no matter how hard the haters fought, GG knew better than to fight back. He knew the only way to beat them was to make sure they couldn't win, and you can't win a fight if there isn't an opponent to fight.
This event would stay with GG for some time though, as seen in GG vs Oxob. The wounds of his paranoia and self-doubt would never completely heal until he faced those demons and accepted himself and his work. He had to understand how to fight through the fear of failure that had been thrown upon him from all of those critics. Through the pain, he put the gauntlets back on.

It's a long one, but if you do read through this, tell me what you think.

I love how Gildedguy didn't hold back at all in this fight, it seems that he knows that a fight against Bog is almost always life or death. Victory or defeat. Notice how this is the only animation where Gildedguy directly attacks the opponent in their vital parts as in the head, chest etc.

Many think that the fight is epic, but as a novice animator I know how difficult it is to make animations of such quality and that's why I think this is an irreplaceable masterpiece. Since there are many people who do not take into account the hard work we do to animate (it happens to me that I share a good quality animation and they say "good"). it can take months or years to make an animation like this and for that you have my respects GildedGuy.

I'd say more along the lines of frustrated and agitated for Bog getting the rug pulled from his feet. Bog being traumatized is more rarer than blue sapphires raining under a gold moon but it has happen before. Check out Quagmire vs Bog and you would see Bog being faced with actual death while Gildedguy was the greatest nuisance for Bog.

It's pretty badass if you think about it. Everyone Gildedguy's fought until now had some sort of super power. Jade has an affinity to fire, bog can regenerate and is literal fucking slime, Oxob has lightning abilities and shit, while Gildedguy just has a sword and an infinite supply of determination, yet somehow he still beats all of them.

I counted a rough 29 hit combo (from when he did the crazy spinning attack) with the segment chosen it was

It's amazing how much symbolism you fit into these. When he can't find the star in the sky as Bog gains the advantage, the void Gilded creates, the realistic images we see as Bog attempts to take control (destruction of creativity?), and the hollow armor defeating Bog in the end. I'm probably missing many more subtle symbols. You have forever redefined both of these characters, showing a more brutal and powerful side of Gilded as he becomes desperate, and introducing a major psychological element to Bog, while capturing his raw insanity as he freakishly smiles the entire fight. Your style is unique and the amount of details you put in every single animation is simply astounding, practically guaranteeing we'll come back and watch it again just to catch them. I have been watching your animations for a while, but regretfully never actually commented. This was well worth the wait and I am overwhelmingly excited for what you do next. :>

Whenever a new story chapter comes out, I end up re-watching everything. This was the latest one, back when I first found Gildedguy and it still holds a unique air to me. Granted, every chapter has a unique feeling to it, for me this one's defined by how direct and aggressive it is, both in fight and music.

I remember being in high school when this dropped. We had a substitute that day so class was pretty lax. Suffice it to say, I was completely FLOORED from the god tier animation, storytelling, symbolism and music. It was so bad, the sub had to tap me and ask if I was ok because evidently I was breathing hard as all hell 🤣

You gotta respect that absolutely unshakable will GG showcases by reforming mere seconds after Bog breaks him apart over and over again. Ultimately, he decides the most efficient path to victory is is to not fight and make peace with this newfound inner demon, PTSD and all or at least that's how I interpret his actions. 11/10 work and easily my second favorite behind GG vs Oxob. Thanks for the fond memories

The gold that gildedguy wears is vulnerable to explosions as seen in against jade and in rhg, it is enhanced by being lighter when in contact with lightning as seen in vs oxob. and in this story, his armor is simply immune to gobs acid as seen clearly at 5:43, Gg's ferrokinesis is a power inside him, so when bog enters Gg's mind, he cannot destroy the armor that keeps him alive because Gg can rebuild anything made from the fabric of gold, that gold of which is his power and he believes is what makes him who he is.

bog was able to penetrate Gg's physical form and enter his mind in attempt to finish him, but as explained through the story, Gg is able to disconnect from worldly matters, the reliability of physical matters and even detach his mind from his the form his physical self. this allows Gg to use his mind to believe that bog (and no one) can stop him from who he is. Gg has so many powers, you and I cant imagine how he will use his mind set in his next battle!!!

Dude, Michael, this is an overly elaborate journal isn't this, with insane levels of creativity and storytelling, conveying the things you go through, not recounting the events in the plain factual manner but the emotions of the situations, using art so anyone could understand. #0 contextualizes everything, and I'm glad I found you after you made it. I've done much less skilled, stories like this to help me work through difficult emotions, the main one being the storm, I had when I realized I would never be able to be the stereotypical strong socially competent Big Brother for my little brother. At the time I was going through puberty just after phasing off of Ritalin (for autism and ADHD), I was gaining a lot of my genetically prescribed muscle, I was gaining what everyone would consider power and strength, but I was realizing just how weak I was. That's when I created Silver, the shift dragon, a guy who touched a magic meteorite, turned into something with a lot of physical power while attempting it to save his family from a mudslide/ landslide, got depressed, ran away and hid away from the world in a cave. Then I made James, someone who needed protecting, he helped silver and me come out of our melancholy. Then I saw the people I can help, the people who's day I could make better, and Silver became the guy people online knew, he interacted with and uplifted people online, (my wholesome helpful alias), while I did the same in the real world. It's been it's been awhile since I needed him, but I'm starting to again. Maybe I'm ready to write down the rest of his story now that I've felt what I needed to to be able to.

This animation conveys true desperation at some points as gilded guy drops his sword in exchange for simply beating away at an opponent that in his mind as of then was undefeatable let alone able to be harmed in a way that ment something it’s incredible how that was conveyed so well if u compare it to his battle with jade this is a different side to gildedguy he truly wanted to harm bog and be rid of his very presence well with jade he was simply defending himself and took it to far here u can tell it’s all deliberate and he doesn’t feel an once of remorse as he goes in

Man I got reminded of this bad boy just now and took my time to rewatch it again. It’s unfathomable how much impact this singular video and the rest of this series had on my life to come.

I remember being about 12 when I first watched this, taking time to rewatch it countless times, analyzing every single frame. The effort put into each shot, each punch, every moment of impact matched with the music, it enamored me.
This video, along with the fights that came before it, were the biggest contributor in me wanting to become an animator. I wanted to create something as deep-cutting as this with my own hands, something that dripped artistry and passion like this does.

I’m 17 now, and that dream has stayed alive.
Just want you to know your work shaped my upbringing a whole lot and I still have a massive respect for you even today.

This video was insane, and to think this randomly popped up in my rec.
I think a lot of people failed to notice at the beginning GG saw what he looked like had bog had won in the reflection of the sword, not to mention he only noticed it after he reached a state of mind where the world around him was silent.
I believe bog doesn't just represent toxicity or negativity of the world, but in some form or fashion a part of the artist's creativity that he did not wish to accept, and trying to fight it or run from it externally could never solve the problem, only by willingly accepting the monster inside himself for what it was, was he finally able to defeat and not by fighting it either but simply accepting it.
This video deserves so much more recognition.

You know what i have noticed, gildedguy's colour pallet changes quite often through each of his videos. An example of this is story 4, story 3 and story 6. Story 4 uses quite a warm colour pallet with very little exceptions in contrast to story 3 using a mixture of the two and story 6 uses a cool pallet. Nice detail if you ask me, also it fits the area he is in.

As much as I love this animation (and it was made me love the Stickman community as much as I do now), how the heck is Gildedguy's weakness that he's a "normal stickman" when he's absorbed the entirety of Bog and pacified him? Bog, the living acid man who is the embodiment of madness and hunger (and comparable to another duelist who shall be nameless for the actions of their animator for bloodlust) and melts/kills multiple people with his acid blood?

The song and the message of story 4 makes it my favorite animation of all time. The reason Gildedguy doesn't appear in the intro is because he has to face a inner demon and the sad truths of reality instead of a good fight. It's the first time he instead has to accept a lose and live with it instead of winning cause that's just how real life works. Problems don't just disappear, which is the reason Bog and GildedGuy cuts are still there; It's a reminder that you can only have high highs with the low lows. As someone who knows how it feels to meet a breaking point in life, it's hard to learn to accept it happen and just move on which is why this animation is perfect in my books.

I remember riding the bus going to work at a truly chitty job when this first came out. I sent it to EVERYONE i could think of because it is that great of a video/concept/editing EVERYTHING! This vid really helped me get through a rough patch....the part where GG goes into his inner sanctum to find answers really spoke to me. You have to remain focused during your darkest hour! 5:48 is my favorite part of this animation. It's super cool and I know it takes a LONG time for someone to make an animation this good. And thinking about the fact this is eight minutes long it can take months, or even a year making an animation this good. We need to give some credit to gildedguy. And even after three years. Frankly, I have no idea what’s going on here, but holy crap. I’ve never been more engaged by a fight scene in my life. I love how expressive the Gildedguy is considering his face is just a rectangle and two circles, and Bog is an appropriately horrifying opponent, 10/10!

You know a lot of people talk about the amazing fight, and the symbolism behind it. And while honestly that shit was amazing, I think something that spoke to me a lot was the ending. They just sat down, and stopped. It was one of the few things that I remembered 4 years later after the fact.

Coming back to this video after a long time, It 100% deserves the attention that It got, maybe even more, great story, amazing animation, intresting ideas color wise and from a composition standpoint, the integration of other topics [ like a reliance on outside support ( 0:35 ; 3:58 ) and a lack of hope when that support isn't there ( 4:45 ), the acceptance and understanding of one's imperfections ( 5:53 ) instead of avoiding them while aming for an impossible ideal. ( 1:24 ; 2:10 )

It's quite sad when you realize, this was the first time GG ever had to fight for his life. Just by the part at 4:00 you can tell, he was not fighting anymore, he was trying to kill Bog. Needless to say, this event would remain with him for a time as seen by the brief moments of PTSD when attempting to put his gauntlets back on.

This is my personal favourite from all your "gildedguy's stories" videos, because it makes me feel so identified. I think that the meaning you gave to the star is the inspiration we have, it destroys the darkness like no other thing, it remembers us when we are at our worst moment, where is the way, we look at it to regain hope, we can dream to be like it, but we just can't, maybe we can be other star, but we can't be THAT star. Of course this video is full of other meanings, but realizing this, made me feel soooo much better, because I was feeling really lost in my life. Thanks for posting this animation, keep going!

An Impenetrable Wall Vs An Unstoppable Force. No one really won or lost here. GildedGuy kept getting back up with sheer mental willpower, and Bog repeatedly kept putting him down. In the end both knew no matter how hard they fought neither would win, and chose to silently have a moment. Even in Oxob vs Gildedguy, Bog still haunted him and once again GildedGuy refused to give in, he put on his gauntlets reluctantly and started bleeding, the trauma is still there, GG will never get over it but at least he moved past it

Almost a year later, and just now I realized why this animation is so beautiful. In every other fight where Bog loses, he is physically overpowered in some way. This fight shows Bog as he really is - not so much a character as a force of nature. It truly illustrates that Gilded's not the greatest fighter. Not the most powerful character. It adds so much more depth to him and highlights his personality that much more, and I love every bit of it.

this is my favourite fight outta all the many that have been posted... the colours, music, animation, story, it all leads to a beautiful ending! also just to point out Gilded never truly "won" this fight till after Oxob fight since Bog not only overpowered Gilded in terms of overworld combat by getting him exhausted but also left an overlasting effect on his armour, and I think mental state as well like sure he did get overpowered by Gilded's will but I don't know if Gilded knew?

I really do like at the end of the fight, you can see that gildeguy is just sitting as bog looks frustrated and angry……but he knows he can’t do anything against him, so with that he just sits down with glideguy as the fight ends, pretty interesting when you think about it, while bog is a great foe on combat, he only does it to fully break someone, but he couldn’t break glideguy, he was able to break his body but not his mind

This made me cry, and I'm not even joking. The animation, the message, everything is so... breathtaking.
I swear, at 5:48 I had to pause and look at the tears when he was rebuilding. He was CRYING. He was being torn apart, being destroyed and he was crying. But what gets me so much is, he's crying AS HE REBUILDS, and extends his hand like "come and get me", because he doesn't give up. He doesn't think of giving up.
