Collide
Renderfly Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sandman always stands in the way of your
brilliant parade
that is calling to join in,
You know I'd be dancing with you
if I didn't have one last dream to attend
to

Dreaming caught me looking away from
your beautiful day
that was starved for attention
Somehow you have harnessed the sun and
are shining it on
to our dreams destination

Up I will take you and wake you to watch
two dreams

Collide

Two months on a wing and a day isn't too
long to wait
for a seed to be growing
No fear leaving enemies strain, I'll be
coming to you
before autumn is blowing

Space eyes and a world as a stage. I can't
wait in the wings
with you calling my entrance
Sea strand, put the siren in beige, I will
sail into you
on a swans sighing end dance

Up I will take you and wake you to watch
two dreams

Collide

Overall Meaning

The song “Collide” by Renderfly seems to be about two people who want to be together, but something always seems to come between them. The Sandman prevents the singer from joining in with the brilliant parade that is calling out to him. However, the singer promises to dance with them if he did not have one last dream to attend to. This seems to indicate that the singer is torn between continuing to dream and fulfilling his desire to be with the other person.

The lyrics also describe how the other person’s beautiful day was starved for attention. Perhaps they feel like they are not getting the attention they deserve or need. However, the singer recognizes that they have somehow harnessed the sun and are shining it on to their dreams' destination. This line could indicate that the other person is a source of warmth, inspiration, and support for the singer's dreams.

In the second verse, the lyrics describe how the singer will take the other person up and wake them to watch two dreams collide. There is a sense of anticipation and excitement as they wait for a seed to grow and autumn to pass. The last few lines of the song paint a beautiful picture of two people coming together – the world as a stage waiting for their entrance, the sea strand and the swans sighing end dance. The song ends with the promise of two dreams colliding.

@bubble pins Nice, as a programmer, Houdini is four you, to get the best of it.
About the professional change, I understand you, theres a whole universe of photography, color, 3D especifications that make a lot of people give up.

I think facebook groups already do this, putting people together, and also live meetings.
But your idea is very very nice, imagine the artists has some score system, that others can see and choose from it.
Theres the size of the files too, like some caches, and the time thats use to transfer... so via internet can make it less feasible, more risky, even more for big studios.
Just trying to help you in this thinking...

No need for sorry, is always nice to talk with intelligent people.
Thanks for the answer and your videos! :)

Joaquin Moreno

Hi bubble,

Im trying to simulte hair using vellum, everything simulate and works fine except attributes I painted in my static mesh (For clumping, etc), It works on the first frames but then It looks like they stay in world space and shifts through the guides till i cant see them anymore...

Any Idea how to fix this? Ive try adding rest to everything i could :c

Thank in advance.

@Joaquin Moreno Are you using the guides or vellum solver to move the hair? But either way, what you can do is take the node where you have the paint attributes put a timeshift and freeze it at frame 1 (just in case if its moving, because I'm not sure if it is or not). Then use a point wrangle to transfer the attribute back to the simulated hair with some VEX code like this (make sure the painted attributes is connected to the 2nd input of the wrangle):

float attributeValue = pointattrib(1, "attrName", @ptnum, 0);
f@recreatedAttrName = attributeValue;

This will take all the attributes from the 2nd input of the wrangle and transfer it to the 1st input. It's a bit of forced and not as elegant as I would like, but this should at least get you going.

I did have a quick live stream on hair before, but I havent had a chance to put out a tutorial on vellum hair yet, which should be in the coming topics soon.

You can check out this old live stream on hair for the time being, but it's rather roughly done and it uses hair guides instead of the vellum solver:

Hope this helps! I've been wanting to do a hair tutorial soon, I'll make it higher on the list.

One of the best Houdini channels around, keep the amazing work!

bubble pins

Thanks!

ArgoBeats

Great, just found your channel, amazing tutorials! Do you know how to do soft body sims on animated objects, for ex. a character with mocap which reacts as softbody to its own movements? Thank you!

ArgoBeats

bubble pins yeah, maybe FEM, I’m a beginner and don’t know very much. Does Fem support that kind of deformations (mocap+softbody altogether)?

bubble pins

You mean like FEM? I haven't looked into FEM yet. Would be interesting, it's going to be added onto my list of topics, but it's a long list.

Carl Herner

Super! In depth and great as always, thanks so much for the thorough introduction!
