And your innocence
Is all I have
Can you hear me calling
In pieces only I can understand
I wanted to feel like I could tell you why
Thought I could almost see the other side
Something real
It disappears before you see the signs
The end is near
Breaking and you're climbing
And my innocence is all you have
I can hear you crying
From places only you can understand
I wanted to feel like I could tell you why
Thought I could almost see the other side
Of something real
Something real
Something real
Something real
Wanted to feel like I could tell you why
Thought I could almost see the other side
It disappeared before I saw the sign
The end is here.
The lyrics of Renee Stahl's song "Something Real" deal with the theme of an elusive, fleeting love that seems too good to be true - one that is difficult to hold onto and keep alive. The singer is desperately trying to communicate with someone they care about, someone they have fallen for, but it seems like they are not being heard. The first two lines, "Catch me, I am falling / And your innocence / Is all I have" convey a sense of vulnerability and dependency on their lover's innocence and goodness. The singer is asking for their partner's support in a moment of crisis, for them to catch them as they fall. However, they feel like their message is not fully understood, and that they are only able to communicate in pieces that only they themselves can understand.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "something real" multiple times, as if to emphasise the importance of that notion to the singer. They desperately want to believe that what they share with their partner is real, and that it is worth fighting for despite the challenges that they face. However, there is a sense of foreboding and uncertainty that permeates the lyrics, with lines like "It disappears before you see the signs / The end is near" and "The end is here". These phrases suggest that the relationship is not sustainable in the long run, and that it might be better for the singer to let go of their hopes for something real.
Overall, "Something Real" is a poignant and heartfelt exploration of the complexities and challenges of love. It captures the essence of the human desire to find a deep, meaningful connection with someone else, even in the face of uncertainty and fragility. The lyrics are powerful and emotive, and Stahl's performance captures the raw emotion and vulnerability of the song.

Atrápame, me estoy cayendo
Catch me, I am falling
Y tu inocencia
And your innocence
Es todo lo que tengo
Is all I have
¿Puedes oírme llamando?
Can you hear me calling
En pedazos solo yo puedo entender
In pieces only I can understand
Quería sentir que podría decirte por qué
I wanted to feel like I could tell you why
Pensé que casi podía ver el otro lado
Thought I could almost see the other side
De algo real
Of something real
Algo real
Something real
Desaparece antes de que veas los signos
It disappears before you see the signs
El final está cerca
The end is near
Rompiendo y estás escalando
Breaking and you're climbing
Y mi inocencia es todo lo que tienes
And my innocence is all you have
Puedo escucharte llorar
I can hear you crying
Desde lugares que solo tú puedes entender
From places only you can understand
Quería sentir que podría decirte por qué
I wanted to feel like I could tell you why
Pensé que casi podía ver el otro lado
Thought I could almost see the other side
De algo real
Of something real
Algo real
Something real
Algo real
Something real
Algo real
Something real
Quería sentir que podría decirte por qué
Wanted to feel like I could tell you why
Pensé que casi podía ver el otro lado
Thought I could almost see the other side
Desapareció antes de ver el letrero
It disappeared before I saw the sign
El fin está aquí.
The end is here.
