In 1981, Grzegorz Ciechowski, taking over the as the new head, moved the group's sound from prog rock closer to New Wave and rechristened the band Republika. He did not, however, completely abandon the band's roots; rather, he adapted Ian Anderson's "heavy-metal flute" into a "New-Wave flute" which featured prominently in such early tracks as Nowe Sytuacje and Kombinat.
The group disbanded in 2001, following Ciechowski's death (cardiac aneurysm).

Gdzie wszyscy moi przyjaciele -ele-ele-ele-ele-ele
Zabrakło ich
Choć zawsze było ich niewielu -elu-elu-elu-elu-elu
Schowali się
Po różnych mrocznych instytucjach -ucja-ucja-ucja-ucja-ucjach
Pożarła ich
Gdzie są moi przyjaciele
Bojownicy z tamtych lat
Zawsze było ich niewielu
Teraz jestem sam
Co to za pan
Tak kulturalnie opowiada
Jak się stara ładnie siedzieć i wysławiaaaaaaać
Ach co za ton co za ukłon
Co za wiara w każdym zdaniu
I jakie mądre przekonania -ania-ania-ania-ania-ania
Gdzie są moi przyjaciele
Bojownicy z tamtych lat
Zawsze było ich niewielu
Teraz jestem sam
Oto są oto wszyscy są
Przyjaciele moi z wielu stron
Co za pochód co za piękny krok
Maszerują ramię w ramię wprost
I w bamboszach, w garniturach
Z pidżamami pod pachami
Z posadami, podatkami i z białymi chorągwiami
Idą tłumy ich tłumy ich
Tłumy ich tłumy ich

The lyrics to Republika's song "Biała flaga" are a lament about the loss of friends and comrades from the past, who have disappeared into the shadows of various institutions or been consumed by the rampant prostitution. The first two stanzas describe the absence of the singer's friends, who were always few in numbers but have now vanished from sight. They seem to have hidden themselves away in the dark corners of society, whether it be in shady partnerships or beneath the grasp of the sex trade.
The third verse introduces a new character, who is being lauded for his poise and decorum in his speech. The singer sarcastically mocks this figure, claiming his words are empty and lacking in conviction. He derides the "ton" and "ukłon" the man employs, mocking his "wysławianie" (elocution) and suggesting he simply spouts "mądre przekonania" (wise beliefs) which lack substance.
The final verse abruptly switches tone, heralding the arrival of a large group of people who are marching in formation. The singer seems to have a sudden realization that his friends might be among them, with a procession of people marching past wearing everything from slippers to business suits. The chorus repeats in the background, leaving the listener to wonder whether the singer has found his friends or remains isolated and alone.

PRLowski rock był o niebo lepszy od dzisiejszej pseudomuzyki. Mam 14 lat, ale słucham tylko muzyki z tamtego okresu.
