The band's first album, Vida, Jesus & Rock'n'Roll, was released in 1991, but the group's musical maturity began in 1995 with On the Rock, one of the most praised albums of the band. At the end of the 1990s, the group's music underwent changes. The album Resgate (1997) and its successor Praise (2000) embraced Britpop, in contrast to the hard rock of previous projects. From there, the group released some live albums and other original works. In 2006, with the official entry of Dudu Borges into the lineup, Resgate released Até eu Envelhecer.
With more than twenty years of career, Resgate experienced in 2010 one of the most popular moments in its history with the band joining the Sony Music roster and the release of the praised Ainda não é o Último, which led the group to a series of concerts. Later, Dudu Borges had to leave the group, which returned to a rawer sound with Este Lado para Cima, released in 2012. In the following years, the musicians released live recordings and the work No Seu Quintal, from 2017. The group's most recent original record is É Só Isso Aqui, scheduled for 2020.
In its history, the band had hits in the Brazilian Christian rock scene, and gained recognition from the audience in its nominations for the Troféu Talento and also in the Troféu Promessas. Its current lineup is the same that founded the group.

The lyrics of Resgate's song Recomeçar talk about the importance of starting over and not giving up, even when we make mistakes or face challenges. The opening lines of the song reveal that the singer was unaware of important things while someone else knew everything. They also admit to neglecting the people who deserved more attention. However, before giving up, they remember that the sun rises for everyone, emphasizing that new beginnings are always possible.
The second verse continues with the theme of acknowledging mistakes and taking responsibility for them. The singer confesses that they disregarded the eternal perspective and wasted time, but before moving on, they realize that the sunsets for everyone, urging them not to waste their time anymore. In the following lines, the singer talks about their decision to listen to God wherever they go, to look ahead, and surrender to His will. The chorus emphasizes the decision to live and wait for what will be forever.
The final lines of the song use humor to emphasize that the song isn't meant to be played backward and to prevent people from misinterpreting the message. The lines refer to the story of King Hezekiah, who asked for a sign from God, and God made the sun go back ten steps on the stairs of Ahaz. The singer then compares themselves to Benjamin Button and a crab that walks backward, commenting on the importance of moving forward in life.
