Colours
Resurrection Band Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics to Resurrection Band's song Colours speak of the faith and love that the singer holds for God. The song starts with the phrase "In the dead of night, like the lightning bright, You'll come". This is a metaphor for the unexpected nature of God's arrival into our lives. Despite the darkness that surrounds us at times, God brings light and hope just as lightning illuminates the darkness of night.
The singer then speaks of seeing God in the eyes of their heart where He silenced the dark. This could be interpreted as finding peace and comfort in God's love, even in the midst of difficult times. The song goes on to describe the beauty of God's creation and the various emotions that it evokes in people. The planets dancing around the sun represent the wonder and awe that we feel when contemplating the universe and God's power. Joy praises him with song, and desire seeks the many colors and shades that God has put into the world.
The song then acknowledges the importance of obedience and faith, with the line "Whatever one could ask of faith, obedience will give". It is only through our faith and obedience to God that we can fully express the love that we have in our hearts and live according to Jesus's teachings.
In summary, Colours is a song about the deep and complex relationship that exists between God and humanity. The lyrics convey the sense of wonder and joy that can come from recognizing His presence in our lives, and the importance of faith and obedience in expressing that love.

Man, I have not heard this song for 20 years now. What a blessing. Back then I was whole hearted striving for God anyway I could think of to find him. Now 20 years later it is a different story. We are like an old married couple. We bicker and fight, even curse each other, but what glory. It's all about ALMIGHTY GOD, in spite of myself. It has been years sense anybody has said "God bless" to me. It means tons. TY, and God bless you kind person of faith.

out of the hundreds of ccm albums I had, this had to absolutely be one of the best songs ever written and performed. I never got tired of hearing it Here you had a married couple who wrote and performed songs with lyrics and music that was not bound by traditional christian standards yet did not allow the music to dilute the straight forward unapologetic message. Their talent was not used for fame and money. I regard them with the likes of Keith Green who paved the way for others to follow

Thanks for the post-one of the best songs to cruise to, to this very day. You know, bands like Thousand Foot Crutch, Skillet, and Flyleaf owe a lot to the artists of that time-they were the groundbreakers, and many churches would have little or nothing to do with supporting them. Their ministry to youth, though, will never be forgotten...
