Every Time It Rains
Resurrection Band Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I been alone, out on my own,
Exchanging truth for a lie, pleasure for pride,
Hell on my side,
Say what you please, this brought me to my knees.

Jesus, you cried for me when I could weep no more,
You died for me when I was dead in sin,
You felt for me when I was numb within,
You searched for me and brought me home again.

Why do you love me when I treat you so wrong?
I give you heartache and you give me a song,
I leave you silence, cold and empty stares...but still I know you care,
Lord, wherever I run, you're there.

Lord, you cried for me when I could weep no more,
You died for me when I was dead in sin,
You felt for me when I was numb inside,
You searched for me and brought me home again.

Lord, you cried for me when I could weep no more,
You died for me when I was dead in sin,

Lord, you felt for me when I was numb within,
Oh, you searched for me and brought me home again.

Overall Meaning

The song "Every Time It Rains" by Resurrection Band is a powerful ballad about the redeeming love of Jesus. The lyrics describe the personal journey of the writer, who has been alone and lost, searching for truth amidst a world of lies and pleasures. The writer has found themselves on the wrong side of life, with hell as their constant companion. Despite this, the writer acknowledges that Jesus has been there all along, crying for them when they could no longer weep, and even dying for them when they were dead in sin.

The writer struggles with understanding why Jesus would love them, despite their wrongs and heartaches. They have left Jesus with nothing but silence and emptiness, but still, He cares. The writer recognizes that no matter where they go, Jesus will always be there, searching for them and bringing them home again.

The overall message of the song is a plea for grace and forgiveness, and an acknowledgement that no matter how lost we may feel, Jesus's love is always present, waiting for us to turn towards Him. The lyrics are deeply emotional, and the music compliments the intensity of the message.

Thank you Resurrection Band. When I was a young boy, this song was not as meaningful to me as it is now at 49. Thank you for your faithful ministry, kingdom service and blessing of Jesus music - Music To Raise The Dead! Love you guys

This is my all time favorite song. The Lord used this song to break me as a teenager and bring me back to Him!

Only 679 views! Sad, this is a fantastic song. I wish CCM artists today would express the Christian faith more like this, rather than so abstractly.

I had this album on vinyl more than 30 years ago.  I love "Paint a Picture", "Skyline", and "Concert For A Queen".

This has always been such a powerful song to me. So many amazing songs on this album. Rez Band forever!

Great album. They evolved from this 70s sound. It was very Zepplin back then with some Rush flourishes with the keyboards and acoustic guitars. At the heart, Rez, was a heavy metal band.....🤘

Thanks, this is such an awesome song, brings back memories of my Dad blasting it in the 80's.
