Revelation Theory's members first met in 1997 at Merrimack College in North Andover, and all moved to New York City in 2001 hoping for a career as a band.
In 2002, bassist Matty, a student at New York University, completed the quartet. They recorded a demo EP and began touring; in 2005 they were tapped for the Girls Gone Wild Rocks America tour in 2005.
The group signed to EMI subsidiary Element Records, releasing a full-length, Truth Is Currency, in 2005 and opening on tour with Breaking Benjamin and Fall Out Boy.[1] A single from Truth Is Currency, "Slowburn", hit #27 on the US Mainstream Rock Tracks chart in 2005.
They toured the US with Saliva and Evanescence in 2006 and also toured Europe with Evanescence. In 2007, the band toured with Hinder, Papa Roach, and Buckcherry.
The now renamed Rev Theory is currently in the studio recording their sophomore album with new label Interscope Records entitled Light It Up. The release date is scheduled for June 10, 2008. Their upcoming single "Light It Up" was one of two official theme songs for World Wrestling Entertainment's WrestleMania XXIV pay-per-view event. Patrick D won the "Light It Up" contest & introduced Rev Theory on stage at Thunder Field during Wrestlemania weekend. "Hell Yeah" is the official theme song for WWE One Night Stand 2008[5]. Together, WWE and WJRR have put together an exclusive widget to promote the event. Former WWE Diva Ashley Massaro appears in the music video for "Hell Yeah." The song has also become known for being the intro song for the Detroit Red Wings hockey team as well as the Cartoon Network sporting event, SlamBall (Censored as Hey Yeah).
Rev Theory have recently announced their tour with Flyleaf and Seether.
Rev Theory has also confirmed via press release [6] that they wrote "Voices" specifically for WWE superstar Randy Orton.
Interscope Geffen A&M Records and Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, have joined forces to premiere the hard rock act Rev Theory’s new music video exclusively on the Xbox LIVE Video Store. This will make Rev Theory’s hit single “Hell Yeah” the first ever video premiere on Xbox LIVE.

Leaving It Up To You
Rev Theory Lyrics

So caught up in covering up the past
After all this time I,
I thought I would be over you at last
But it kills me at night
I was hoping you'd give me a second chance
But I'm leaving it up to you
Leaving it up to you
Cause I walked away when I said I'd stay
With you
No excuses so
I thought I'd make it better as I go
If I could go back in time I,
I wouldn't leave you waiting all alone
I lay awake late at night
I wish I had the courage to say no
But I'm leaving it up to you
Leaving it up to you
And there's nothing that I can do
'Cause I walked away when I said I'd stay
Leaving it up to you (I wanna come back home yeah)
I'm leaving it up to you (I wanna come back home)
And there's nothing that I can do
'Cause I walked away when I said I'd stay
With you
With you
With you
After all this time I try to understand this pain
No excuses so I find a reason to run away (to run away)
But I'm leaving it up to you
Leaving it up to you
And there's nothing that I can do
'Cause I walked away when I said I'd stay
Leaving it up to you (I wanna come back home yeah)
I'm leaving it up to you (I wanna come back home)
And there's nothing that I can do
'Cause I walked away when I said I'd stay
With you
With you
With you
The lyrics of Rev Theory's "Leaving It Up To You" explore the complicated feelings of regret, guilt, and longing that come after a failed relationship. The singer seems unable to let go of the past and move on, and instead finds himself constantly thinking of the person he left behind. He acknowledges his mistake in walking away and breaking a promise, but also feels powerless to change the situation now. The phrase "leaving it up to you" serves as both a confession of his own indecisiveness and an expression of his hope that the other person might still want to be with him.
The song's chorus repeats the idea of leaving the decision in the other person's hands, emphasizing the singer's lack of control over the situation. He wishes he could go back in time and make things right, but also admits that he has been trying to "cover up" the pain of the breakup rather than dealing with it directly. The verses reveal the singer's inner turmoil, as he struggles with conflicting emotions and tries to come to terms with his own mistakes. Ultimately, the song is a bittersweet rumination on the complexities of love and regret.

I don't know why I'm
Confused about why I am
So caught up in covering up the past
Obsessively trying to hide my past mistakes
After all this time I,
After a long period has passed,
I thought I would be over you at last
I expected to have moved on from you by now
But it kills me at night
It pains me deeply, especially at night
I was hoping you'd give me a second chance
I wanted you to forgive me and give me another opportunity
But I'm leaving it up to you
I am relinquishing control and putting the decision in your hands
And there's nothing that I can do
I am powerless to change the situation
Cause I walked away when I said I'd stay
I left despite promising to stay
No excuses so
Without any justification,
I thought I'd make it better as I go
I believed I could improve things as time passed
If I could go back in time I,
If I had the ability to time travel,
I wouldn't leave you waiting all alone
I wouldn't have abandoned you when you needed me
I lay awake late at night
I struggle to sleep and am plagued by thoughts
I wish I had the courage to say no
I regret not having the strength to refuse certain things
Leaving it up to you
I am allowing you to decide
Leaving it up to you
I am putting the responsibility on you
With you
By your side
After all this time I try to understand this pain
Despite much effort, I struggle to comprehend this misery
No excuses so I find a reason to run away (to run away)
Without making excuses, I search for causes to flee
I wanna come back home yeah
I desire to return to where I belong
I'm leaving it up to you (I wanna come back home)
I am entrusting you with the decision to let me come back home
