What You Got
Reveille Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Car crash, whiplash, bam, snap your neck back in half
Why can't I just be realistic?
Give 'em what they want and make the biddies go ballistic
Sadistic motherfuckers playing complicated
Well never underestimate the underestimated
Opinionated, elevated, sticking to my guns
That's the penalty
That's the penalty
Payback's a bitch so you best keep running
That's the penalty
That's the penalty
It's what you got, what you got, what you got coming
That's the penalty
That's the penalty
Payback's a bitch so you best keep running
That's the penalty
That's the penalty
It's what you got, what you got, what you got coming
Yo, can I ask you something?
What the fuck is up man?
You got nothing, it's just a fairy tale you're stuck in
I'm sucking from that 7 on 7
Pumping and roughing up all of these fakes that be bluffing
Nothing you can say could ever take this away now
Stay down
Stay the fuck away from this playground
Lyrical hijack, put my madness to my method
Check it, mic in my hand, nah, more like a lethal weapon
That's the penalty
That's the penalty
Payback's a bitch so you best keep running
That's the penalty
That's the penalty
It's what you got, what you got, what you got coming
That's the penalty
That's the penalty
Payback's a bitch so you best keep running
That's the penalty
That's the penalty
It's what you got, what you got, what you got coming
What you got, what you got, what you got
what you, what you, what you
Go blind, bring the drums
Better yet, here we come
You take back what you done or you can tuck tail and run
Ready or not, find yourself
And if you dare stop running
I think you're gonna get just what you got coming, bring it
You're gonna get just what you got, what you got?
You're gonna get just what you got, what you got?
You're gonna get just what you got, what you got?
You're gonna get just what you got coming
So what the fuck you got?
That's the penalty
That's the penalty
Payback's a bitch so you best keep running
That's the penalty
That's the penalty
It's what you got, what you got, what you got coming
That's the penalty
That's the penalty
Payback's a bitch so you best keep running
That's the penalty
That's the penalty
It's what you got, what you got, what you got coming
In the song "What You Got" by Reveille, the lyrics focus on the idea of retribution and payback for those who have wronged someone. The language used in the song is strong, featuring profanity and violent imagery, to emphasize the message that those who behave badly will face consequences.
The opening line of "Bitch, you'd better buck-buck-buckle up, prepare for this impact" sets the tone for the song, warning the listener to be ready for what's coming. The following lines describe a violent impact, referencing a car crash and whiplash. The next lines, "Why can't I just be realistic? Give 'em what they want and make the biddies go ballistic" suggest that while the singer may want to be more rational, the desire to give people what they want and rile them up with aggressive behavior is difficult to resist.
The verses following the chorus expand on the theme of payback, with lyrics like "Sadistic motherfuckers playing complicated, well never underestimate the underestimated." The song suggests that those who are underestimated or viewed as weak are actually dangerous and should never be written off. Overall, the song is a warning to those who cross the singer that they will face the consequences of their actions.
