I ran a Kickstarter and have created the first 3rd party stand-alone WF module (it's actually 2 separate adventures). It's called The Brimstone Cradle & The Hills That Hunger. Dunno if you caught the Kickstarter for it. I'd be happy to send you a copy of the PDF. We haven't gotten it to the printer just yet. I do know that Weird Frontiers should also be getting to the printers in the next month(ish) so you should be able to get a hardback book soon.

Our six month (?) Weird Frontier recently went on hiatus, but I critically failed a point blank shot to a birthing God’s face with a rusty old shotgun and caught the full force of the ricochet, just about killing me before two cultists armed with brooms finished me off. And I got to come back as a revenge seeking tommyknocker the following session. One of my all time gaming memories. This is a fun, optionally firearm detailed game with a great community around it. One of my favorite games as designed, and hands down my favorite DCC experience.

I love Weird Frontiers. I've ran a lot of it and was in some of the playtesting. Fun fact: Gilbert Isla, or Bert, is a good friend and regular with the DoK crew. Check him in the special thanks and credits of Weird Frontiers. You have played in at least one stream with him when you sat in on our games. Small world right.

Deadlands has been updated again recently from Deadlands: Reloaded to Deadlands: The Weird West for the new Savage Worlds Adventurers Edition and the time line has been updated as well after the events of the Deadlands: The Cackler graphic novel.

Thank you very much for introducing me to this game. I had no idea there was a freaking 900+ page Weird West full game add on to DCC. I am seriously weighing it against Deadlands but for now I will stick to Deadlands since I have been hitting my head against the SWADE book and Deadlands for the past week. Once I get out of my Grognard hangover I'll transition to DCC. I subscribed because of this video.

This looks great, but no physical copy is a deal-breaker for me. Just checked, and as of 10/16/2022, still don't see a print version available. I'll check back from time to time to see if a print version becomes available at some point. Thanks for the overview!

Because the art in the book is black and white if you have an e-reader tablet like a nook or kindle with e-ink it might be enough for you to recreate the experience of an actual book.

This is one of the coolest rpgs to be coming out in a long time. I'm okay with this being a single volume book of awesome but if it ever got split into multiple books someday I would rebuy this game.

In the latest KS update the physical books samples were shown and they look damn good.

Deadlands, that I remember, had classes. Gunfighter, Mad Scientist, Pinkerton, Preacher, Huckster, etc. They were literally called "classes".

@@JocularJunction Savage Worlds editions of Deadlands dropped the classes. They still have archetypes, but they're just templates. You can build your own characters from scratch.

Hii i made the dead lands relevant to my own country :) (aka israel), the same thing only the the hai vazir in the ottoman empire broke a jar with a bad bad spirit trapped inside it as a last resort. Making the middle east wild west.

I bought the Weird Frontiers Bundle of Holding this week. 4 adventures, the core rulebook, Judge's screen and form fillable PC sheets included. Managed to read thru the characters so far, but it's slow going and not as comfortable as settling into my favorite readin chair with the actual book, but it costs $75! Still, that's a bargain for 908 pages!

Well they have a paper copy... For 70 bucks. I mean, that's ridiculous. 40 maybe, 20-30 probably, 10 definitely: that is about where I am at with buying books now. I don't care if every video was a glowing review and I had never wanted to play any other game after seeing it, I wouldn't get it at that price on principle. After paying 100+ games each on two games (they were out of print at the time; twilight imperium and betray at house on the hill), which I think we have played maybe 3 times each in like over 10 years, I decided never to blow that much money on hobby gear, even if I thought for sure we'd play it, and everyone swore they really wanted to play, would make time, go ahead and buy it... nope. So now I have a limit to how much I will risk on something we might never use. This looks VERY COOL, and is basically exactly what I'm looking for, but the asking price is just too steep. For about half that price, yesterday I bought Lichdom, Frontier Scum, GOZR, and Demon-Bone Sarcophagus. Maybe D&D could get away with such a high cost of entry into the hobby, back when they basically monopolized the market, but now, every game has dozens of competitors, even within a niche (I know of 3 wild west fantasy rpgs, off the top of my head, probably a few more out there), and many give their stuff away for free, or pay what you can. For 70 bucks, it should be 1000+ pages, and contain like 3-5 different games, since that is what I would be giving up to purchase it. When I finish building my game, it will either be free/pwyc or relatively cheap like 5-10 bucks. I know I have competition, and no matter how much I polish it, consumers are still taking a risk; that risk grows with the price, until at a certain point (around $40 for me), the alternatives seem less risky. I could spend 70 on one game that might suck, or spend that on 3-4 indies that also might suck, but there is a better chance that one is a gem. To be honest, the same is true with video games on steam; I won't be buying Baulder's Gate until the price comes down to 30 bucks or so, because again, there are BUNCHES of competing games, and for 60-70 bucks, I can get 6-8 indie games that might be just as good or better- and to be honest, the indies have a better chance than pro studios with franchises, in my experience. Anyway, you got your wish, there is a paper copy, but you might want to wait until none have sold, the business goes under, and they are selling discounted ones half price to cover the lawyers' fees, because that is what tends to happen when artists overvalue their work; but hey, then you can buy it at the price that it should have been all along! Sorry, but no amount of artwork, fancy stitching, handmade detail, etc. makes it worth that much, again, considering the alternative options. Which sucks because I would like to give it a try, as I am sure most would, if they cut the price in half. Pdfs should be 5-10 bucks, with paper copies at 10-20 for softcover and 30-40 for hardcover. 20 for a pdf? 70 for hardback? Nope. Sorry, but I have a running list of dozens of books, and I can get 2-4 for that price. Most of us live on a budget, and hobbies are not the priority, they are a luxury, but one with no barrier of entry or limited resources to constrain competition, so it's a luxury that should be cheap enough that most can afford one, like cigarettes, lottery tickets, tickets to a sporting event, or dinner and a movie... a luxury the "common man" can afford. Anyway, enough of my frustrated rant. Went to go buy the book, and now I am disappointed. Looks like a great product that was lovingly made, and they deserve to get paid for that work, but I think they overlooked the Ford principle, about selling cheaper to more people making you more money than selling higher to fewer people; cut the price in half, and I bet you quadruple the sales, because you made it more accessible. That way, when your Aunt asks what you might like for Christmas, and you don't feel comfortable asking for a 70 buck gift, you could ask for the more reasonably priced 20-25 buck book she can afford, for example. Or again, when someone like me goes to drivethrurpg, they compare 1 thing in cart to 5 things in cart for the same price, and decide to go with more bites at the apple, so to say. Again, decades of experience has taught me that is the better strategy. Good luck though. Again, really did look cool, and would've loved to buy it. Maybe I will when they wise up, and drop the price. Like with some of the other games I mentioned (also errant), I bought the pdf already, and I am asking for the paper copies as gifts, because I want both, assuming that I like the pdf (again, small investment of 5-10 bucks, and if that works out, then go for the 20-40 buck paper copies); I'm not against spending money to support the artist who put in time and effort, but be reasonable, and think of it from the consumer's perspective too, they also worked hard for their money, and again, they have PLENTY of options (nowadays an overwhelming amount).

Weird Frontiers is a lot darker and a different thing from Deadlands. It's the same BS comparison between Babylon 5 and Deep Space 9 both of them have a space station as a focal point of the setting but the tones and stories are different. And you can like both of them.

There's a friendly FB group that the author of the game is involved with.
