@greg042

I remember watching this on CMT.

Well done coverage. These guys could teach the guys today on NBC Sports a thing or two.......

Always fun to go back and watch these races, my good buddy Mike Healey in the a rare factory Cagiva!
Some legends in this video.

@charliemike13

Jeff Rohn I raced growing up during this time and have no recollection of the Cagiva. Did they make TM’s back then too? I always daydream about creating an American made motocross bike brand. My Dad left me his 1937 Indian that his Dad bought from the Indian racing team. I can’t figure out the magneto to get it running though and I haven’t been able to get in touch with anyone that knows about them.

@jeffrohn4248

matt henderson Yes, I believe that TM has been around since mid -late 70’s.
I may have someone who could help you out with your Indian Problems. I’ll ask him and get back to you!

@charliemike13

Jeff Rohn awesome! Please do! Thank you so much!

@@charliemike13 I think I finally know why a long lasting dirt bike company has never been in the USA. Both the USA and Europe had people making motorcycles, (more in Europe I believe, because of their richer bicycle heritage and industry,--where the motorcycle evolved from). And just as motorcycles were poised for new free market competition in the states, Ford put out the affordable, mass produced "Tin Lizzy" car. That put motorcycles on the back burner for a lot of Americans. Time went by. It got harder and harder to do business in the USA, but all who tried soon fell by the wayside. Cannondale was the last MX bike effort in the USA in 2000. I interview there, turned down the offer, and they stopped making bikes about a year later.
Today, environmental regulations (from people we don't even know) and free market sabotage makes it impossible for us to make a dirt bike now,---the way we want it. You can possibly get government subsidies for an electric bike, (since it is government that wants to go green and poor),----but you did not want to start a factory, that will not make a profit, on others peoples taxes, do you? See how these dirty little bastards work? They took our free market from us! :(

@charliemike13

@@EarthSurferUSA I see what you are saying and it made my heart drop a bit. Made me downright sad... making dirtbikes may not even be able to turn a profit because of the niche market without dealing with the government—have you heard what they have said about you will own nothing and you will like it? WTF is that? With how food and lumber are going up, I see everything going up and it being just the way they want it—no middle class. Just the small amount of rich and the poor as their slaves.
