Rex began to sing at a very young age in Sunday School, encouraged by his Grandmother. His debut CD, 'Under the Lights', was released on December 13th 2005 and was certified platinum just a month after its release, as well as been nominated for a Juno awards in the 'Best Album of the Year' category,. Goudie himself has managed to also achieve a nomination in 'Artist of the Year'. Although placing 2nd to Melissa O'Neil he has achieved greater success than her, who's debut album took almost a year to go platinum, even though coming out a month after her's. His hit single 'Run' hit #1 in Canada, and Rex won a SOCAN #1 award. He has reached superstar status in his home Province of Newfoundland, and is incredibly famous in the rest of Canada. Rex has a book about his life by Kim Kielly titled Rex Goudie: Idolized, it is based on his life from birth, right up until now with many pictures along the way. Rex has began work on his second album, he is writing as much of it as he possibly can, and is going for a more Rock oriented sound, he announced after a performance on Canadian Idol season 4 on August 29th that the album will be in stores on December 5th, 2006. The album, entitled "Look Closer" was changed to December 12th for release, the 1st single "You Got To Me" is proving to be very popular, and is on its way to become another #1 hit for Rex. Look Closer made its debut at #19 on the SOCAN charts which was the highest debut in the country that week. Rex is about to go on another cross-Canada tour within the next few months.

Overall Meaning
