What a fool I was, what a dominated fool
To think that you were the earth and the sky
What a fool I was
What an addlepated fool
What a muddle-headed dolt was I!

No, my reverberated friend
You are not the beginning and the end

There'll be spring every year without you
England still will be here without you
There'll be fruit on the tree
And a shore by the sea
There'll be crumpets and tea without you

Art and music will thrive without you
Somehow Keats will survive without you
And there still will be rain on that plain down in Spain
Even that will remain without you
I can do without you

You, dear friend, who taught so well
You can go to Hartford, Hereford and Hampshire

They can still rule with land without you
Windsor Castle will stand without you
And without much ado we can all muddle through without you

Without your pulling it, the tide comes in
Without your twirling it, the Earth can spin
Without your pushing them, the clouds roll by

If they can do without you, ducky, so can I
I will not feel alone without you
I can stand on my own without you
So go back in your shell
I can do bloody well
Without...

@Mark Armage That's partially true. He did make her, sure he treated her as an experiment but the result he surely didn't treat as an experiment. She can do anything she wants now though,

"she met a king in a castle, met a queen on a throne, danced a' merry waltz in both their hoooome

Shook hands with the decent, talked a while with the lesent, so for her to-say-that - (orchestral glissando) I shall say, when in rome.

She most certainly coerced with the grand, she most certainly spoke with an Oam (instead of AHUEM), I will certainly say it once more that this fair lady is a chore, for when she says that she's misguided (orchestral glissando) WELL WHEN IN ROME!

Have a given her a chance, have a given her a home, have a given her a given gift to say: given gift to say?, have a cleaned her language and appearance today? have or haven't I made her a queen?- a disguise that may not seem? a hat and a comb so WHEN IN ROME

I made her what she is today, a lady which I dare not say for now she seems to believe its all my fault? What do I do, what shall I say, this fair lady makes an awful play, she plays with my sense of where I halt. You and I have made her - her, a madame mistress surely sure, but once you take away that image her emotions are an awful stimage, she lives in a dome so when in Rome.

What a fool I was, what dominated fool
To think that you were the Earth and sky
What a fool I was, what an elevated fool
What a mutton-headed dote was I
No, my reverberating friend
You are not a beginning and the end
There'll be spring every year without you
England still will be here without you
There'll be fruit on the tree
And a shore by the sea
There'll be crumpets and tea without you

I said I'd make a woman and indeed I did
I knew that I could do it, I knew it, I knew it
I said I'd make a woman and succeed I did
Eliza you're magnificent

Eliza (singing):
What a fool I was, what dominated fool,
to think that you were the earth and the sky,
What a fool I was, What an addlepated fool,
What a mutton-headed dolt was I!
No, my reverberated friend,
you are not the beginning and the end.
Professor Higgins (speaking):
You impetant hussy there's not an idea in your head or a word in your mouth that I haven't put there.
Eliza (singing):
There'll be spring every year without you. England still will be here without you.
There'll be fruit on the tree.
And a shore by the sea.
There'll be crumpets and tea without you.
Art and music will thrive without you. Somehow Keats will survive without you.
And there still will be rain on that plain down in Spain,
even that will remain without you.
I can do without you.
You, dear friend, who taught so well,
You can go to Hartford, Hereford and Hampshire.
They can still rule with land without you.
Windsor Castle will stand without you.
And without much ado we can all muddle through without you.
Professor Higgins:
You brazen hussy,
Eliza (singing):
Wihtout pulling it the tide comes in,
without your twirling it the Earth can spin,
Without your pulling it, the tide comes in
Without your twirling it, the earth can spin
Without your pushing them, the clouds roll by,
If they can do without you, ducky, so can I
I shall not feel alone without you
I can stand on my own without you
So go back in your shell
I can do bloody well
Without...
Professor Higging (singing) interupts:
By George, I really did it,
I did it, I did it,
I said I'd make a woman and indeed I did,
I knew that I could do it,
I knew it, I knew it,
I said I'd make a woman and succeed I did!
(speaking)
Eliza you are wonderful

True facts: whenever I've been through a bad breakup and am feeling bad about myself, I watch this movie, sing along to this song as loud as I possibly can, and then turn it off before she goes back to him.

Jordan McHighlander

This is some real year 2229 level thinking.

Diogenes Perez Otero

I'd sing: "I'll slam the door and let the hellcat freeze"

Julia Prohaska

I hate the ending. He was so abusive to her she should have left for good, married Freddie and opened her flower shop.

Ceci♠Asa

@Julia Prohaska In the original work, she does marry Freddy and opened her flower shop. I guess they don't show it here.

I love this song for so many reasons but the fact that Eliza's singing in HENRY'S MOTHER'S HOUSE because his mother took her in after she left and was just as angry at her son's behaviour towards Eliza just makes it even better.

Ella Aquitaine

The mother was such a surprising favorite side character for me. The way she tells off Henry and sides with Eliza cemented it.

Sara Mattson

"Henry dear, I suggest you keep to two subjects: the weather and your health."
His Mom is fantastic. He has no idea how much he needs her haha.

Sherry_DaughterOfGod

I forgot she went back to him! That silly goose Eliza! Why didn't she just marry Freddy? He loved her for her...
