The Rain in Spain
Rex Harrison Lyrics

Poor Professor Higgins!
Night and day
He slaves away!
Oh, poor Professor Higgins!
All day long
On his feet;
Up and down until he's numb;
Doesn't eat;
Doesn't touch a crumb!
Poor Professor Higgins!
Poor Professor Higgins!
On he plods
Against all odds;
Oh, poor Professor Higgins!
Nine p.m.
Ten p.m.
On through midnight ev'ry night.
One a.m.
Two a.m.
Three...!
Quit, Professor Higgins!
Quit, Professor Higgins!
Hear our plea
Or payday we
Will quit, Professor Higgins!
Ay not I,
O not Ow,
Pounding pounding in our brain.
Ay not I,
O not Ow,
Don't say "Rine," say "Rain"
The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain!
By George, she's got it!
By George, she's got it!
Now, once again where does it rain?
On the plain! On the plain!
And where's that soggy plain?
In Spain! In Spain!
The three
The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain!
The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain!
In Hartford, Hereford, and Hampshire...?
Hurricanes hardly happen.
How kind of you to let me come!
Now once again, where does it rain?
On the plain! On the plain!
And where's that blasted plain?
In Spain! In Spain!
The three
The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain!
The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain!
The lyrics to Rex Harrison's song "The Rain In Spain" from the musical "My Fair Lady" are a reflection of how Professor Higgins is tirelessly trying to teach Eliza Doolittle to speak proper English. The song starts off by showing sympathy towards Professor Higgins, who works day and night, standing on his feet and never taking a break or eating. The repeated phrase "Poor Professor Higgins" highlights the difficulty of his work and how he is going against all odds to train Eliza, leading his staff to plead with him to quit.
The next part of the song focuses on Eliza, who struggles with the pronunciation of the word "rain." She repeats "Ay not I, O not Ow," pounding it into her brain until she finally gets it right. The turning point in the song is when she finally pronounces "rain" correctly, and this prompts the iconic phrase, "The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain!" This breakthrough is celebrated with the exclamation "By George, she's got it!"
The final part of the song sees Professor Higgins interrogating Eliza on the geography of Spain, asking her where it rains. She answers with confidence that it rains in the plain, and he confirms that she is correct. The song concludes with the repeated phrase, "The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain!"

Sucess is the Realization of a Worthy Ideal
The ultimate paradigm shift
I feel like Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady leaning to speak English “properly”
I think I’ve got it 😂😂😂 by gosh!
After 4 years of influence from Bob Proctor I think my mind understands and is finally rightside up
Here goes
Like lenses and filters on a camera , we see the world and others from those effects and distortions and call it truth.
“You make me feel ...” is a distortion
The truth is “I make me feel...”
My perception of myself is also limited by the distortions in my mind about me.
But distortions can be cleared up.
Jesus said know the truth about yourself and God and the truth shall make you free.
The truth is I’ve lived upside down ,
I’m persistently informed by my 5 senses that I believe I am mostly a physical body and that I am my results.
I’ve lived from the outside in
I’ve been convinced that the outside world is the truth of my being and my identity and my power.
The outside world is only evidence of the collective Past thinking coming into form.
And the truth is I can think any thought i want and turn it into physical form.
Everything is all ready here in one form or another and what I do not see , yet desire, must be perceived from my higher intellectual faculties of
Imagination, perception, intuition & reason.
I then as I focus my will on the unseen with time and attention I will develop persistent actionable awareness and I will participate in receiving and bringing the “unseen” into form through a calm and relaxed mental state of being.
That’s how we are able to learn to fly, release weight and earn money
💰 ..
My persistent thoughts about myself / my identity, creates the form I am and the formed conditions I’m in.
To change form i must think from the unseen realm of Spirit - The Father of All
Spirit is the place of all possibilities and when I open to Spirit and accept a new thought then that power moves into the mind and works with my higher intellectual faculties of imagination, intuition, perception and reason
With my will I remain steadfast on the unseen idea and allow it to be brought into form as me and through me and to me.
The time frame is irrelevant
My sustained focus and inspired action is all that matters.
I ask and it is given. My gratitude, thanksgiving and praise to God, for that which is in the Spirit realm already, is the vibrational gateway and portal which all my good flows through , it’s the narrow way of total trust and surrender to the Only true Source.
My mind remains focused here and refuses to be cluttered by outside influences.
I am a center of Divine operation and a center of the infinite source of Supply .
My memory is used to repeat this process in all my experiences and ignore the distortions of conditional reality.
And so it is, Amen 🙏🏽

I love that scene where Henry sits down on the couch next to Eliza and acts like a gentleman for once. After being exhausted past his limit, he is finally being nice to her.

i think this is actually the most powerfull scene in the movie, especially when he finishes speaking to her "and conquer it you will" and she looks at him with that terrified look, that scene, is EXCEPTIONEL!!!
gaamatsu4dewin
It's powerful because she's scared of him? I always thought she was simply in awe of him, and fear had nothing to do with it.

It's that little bit of attention girls seek from alpha males.

@gaamatsu4dewin Yeah, I thought she was falling for him here, and he noticed her beauty as if for the first time.

Scrateshooter alpha males are a myth

I really love this scene. It's the absolute turning point, where the inkling of kindness Mr. Higgins showed her actually flipped a switch for her
HindsightPOV
It’s not a coincidence when Henry stops lecturing Eliza to just say it properly and sincerely says that he believes in her that she was finally able to do it.

Yep, and in fact a large part of teaching is having faith in your students ability to learn. He provided her the motivation to learn, and then the encouragement that she could succeed.
SilverKitty
she was inspired to do it ...she had put the work in ....and the work was paying off slowly...she needed inspiration and the LOVE of language
