They began mixing together around 1993 after meeting in Malta, doing remixes for, among others, Todd Terry, Michael Jackson, INXS, Junior Vasquez, David Morales, and Roger Sanchez. In 2001 they released a full-length album entitled Disconnect Your Head on Tommy Boy Records's Silver Label, and scored two club hits in the US: "Ghetto", featuring Jo Watson (#10 Dance/Club Play) and "The Underground" (#6 Dance/Club Play).[1] The duo released tracks together into the mid-2000s, splitting to work as solo artists.

gimmie back the underground
The "Underground" by Rhythm Masters is a song that embodies a sense of nostalgia for the origins of the house music that came from the underground scene. The lyrics speak of the sense of belonging and freedom one feels within such a scene, the excitement of being part of a community that shares your love of music, and a longing to return to such a place, as if something had been lost in the wider world. The repetition of the phrase "this is the sound of the underground" presents a sense of unification, as if the music they are hearing is a unifying force that connects them all. The song's chorus "gimme back the underground" expresses a yearning to return to a simpler, purer time of the underground, free from the commercial elements that have entered the scene over time.
The song is relevant even today, as the underground scene remains an important part of dance music culture. The song's lyrics and the music's pulsing beats come together to create a sense of energy and purpose, immersing the listener into the scene with visceral intensity. The song is a testament to the power of music to inspire, connect and energise, and an ode to the underground scene that gave birth to so much of today's dance music.
