Clothes off
Ria Mae Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You look way too good to leave this up to luck
And I don't want your heart
Your soul
Or your hand
I want your body, want your body instead
(Now, now, now, now)
Take your clothes off
I've been on your case
Plotting on the ways I can make you mine (mine, mine)
Hardly goes a day
Hardly goes away
It must be right (knock, knock)
Open up your door
What are you doing?
We're wasting time
I can see you
Looking at me, looking at me
Is it all in my mind, mind, mind
I told you I'm not waiting on the wall
You look way too good to leave this up to luck
And I don't want your heart
Your soul
Or your hand
I want your body, want your body instead
(Now, now, now, now)
Take your clothes off
Take your clothes off
Got me in a hold
Everything is moving slow
Time disappears
Wasting to a stop, I know
You can read my thoughts
When you're near
Nothing is the same
As it was before you got here
Oh, tell 'em not to wake me up
It's all in my mind, mind, mind
I told you I'm not waiting on the wall
You look way too good to leave this up to luck
And I don't want your heart
Your soul
Or your hand
I want your body, want your body instead
(Now, now, now, now)
Take your clothes off
Take your clothes off
No falling, falling for you
No falling, falling for you
Tell me what you
Tell me, what do you want?
Why are you taking so long?
Why are you taking so long?
Why are you taking so long?
'Cause I told you I'm not waiting on the wall
You look way too good to leave this up to luck
And I don't want your heart
Your soul
Or your hand
I want your body, want your body instead
(Now, now, now, now)
Take your clothes off
Take your clothes off
In Ria Mae’s song "Clothes Off," the artist expresses her desire for physical intimacy with the person she is expressing her feelings to. She is straightforward and candid with her desires, telling the person that she is not just waiting passively for them to make a move. This is evident in the lyric “I told you I'm not waiting on the wall / You look way too good to leave this up to luck.” She wants this person to take off their clothes and be with her, indicating a sense of urgency in her desires.
The lyrics depict Mae’s state of mind, as she is not only chasing the person but also her own desires. The lines “Got me in a hold / Everything is moving slow / Time disappears / Wasting to a stop, I know” give the impression that Mae is so wrapped up in her fervor that time seems to have slowed down. Her focus is on this person and what she wants from them. Mae also invites the person to respond to her demands, with the lines “Tell me what you / Tell me, what do you want? / Why are you taking so long?” indicating that she is looking for acknowledgment and reciprocity.
Overall, the lyrics in "Clothes Off" are candid and straightforward but also emotionally layered, conveying the urgency that comes with sexual desire and the desire for intimate human connections.

I never usually comment on anything on YouTube but I just have to say that it is so refreshing to hear a woman singing so openly about sex...and not in the context of either showing herself off for a guy to tell HER to take her clothes off...or in a lovey-dovey, let's tip-toe around the fact that we're talking about sex...way. In this song, she is taking all control. Love it!
