History
Ricardo was born in the village of Jocotenango, near Antigua, Guatemala to Ricardo Arjona Moscoso and Noemí Morales de Arjona. When he was three years of age he and his family moved to Guatemala City.
He spent some time as a teacher at a rural primary school, where he reputedly said he spent three hours giving lessons and the rest of the day playing football. This earned him a visit from a Ministry of Education representative, who was sent to evaluate the level of education amongst Ricardo Arjona's pupils. The representative found that the students' level of education was actually above average.
Ricardo Arjona was a talented basketball player, and he played for the team Leones de Marte. He also toured Central America as a member of the Selección de básquetbol de Guatemala (Guatemala's National Basketball Team); until recently he held the record for the most points scored in a single game by a Guatemalan player.
Although he initially enrolled in architecture and engineering subjects, he eventually graduated with a degree from the School of Communication Sciences at the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala (USAC).
At USAC there is a library hall that bears his name. There is also a street named for him in his birthplace, Jocotenango, Guatemala.

Tu dolor y mis tropiezos, tus colirios mis pendientes
Con tu falda arremangada, con mi angustia recurrente
Con tu espalda en tres almohadas
Y mi astucia haciendo un puente
Tu pezón amenazando y mi boca haciendo fiesta
Un colchón de contrabando y la ropa haciendo siesta
Mi sillón y tu acrobacia, mi equipaje y tu esperanza
The song "Para Bien O Para Mal" by Ricardo Arjona is a poetic expression of a failed relationship. The lyrics describe the ups and downs of a love affair that has come to an end. The first stanza sets the tone for the rest of the song as Arjona sings about the contrasting elements of the relationship: love and distance, delirium and accidents, pain and setbacks. He also describes the physical setting of the relationship, with the woman's skirt raised and his own anxiety constantly present. The mention of the woman's back on three pillows and his cunning building a bridge both suggest a certain intimacy between the two, but also a sense of manipulation or dishonesty.
The second verse describes the passion between the two, with Arjona's mouth feasting on the woman's nipple and their mattress serving as a "contraband" (implying secrecy). There are also hints of power play, with his own efficacy and her blackmail and his own revenge. Despite this tension, there is also a sense of acrobatics or playfulness between them, with her hope and his luggage completing the picture of a complex, layered relationship. The chorus repeats the phrase "para bien o para mal" (for better or for worse) that emphasizes the finality of their relationship. The subsequent verses describe the relationship's collapse: Arjona's lies and her inventions, their love and hate intertwined, time moving too fast, and the passion and emotion dwindling. The song ends with the realization that their relationship has ended, and there is no going back.
Overall, "Para Bien O Para Mal" is a powerful and emotional song that captures the essence of a relationship that has gone sour. Arjona's lyrics are filled with poignant imagery and metaphors that make the emotions of the song palpable. From the secretive contraband mattress to the manipulative blackmail, the song captures the complexity and range of emotions that we experience in romantic relationships.

Esta canción no es más que una triste burka. Se presta para muchas interpretaciones y al final no dice nada.
