He dropped out of his studies of mechanical engineering at Tuskegee University in order to concentrate on music. With a few demo releases, he was noticed by producer Polow da Don. Rich Boy then signed a contract with Zone 4 through Interscope Records in 2006 and started to work on his debut album. In the meantime, he made guest appearances on one of Ludacris' Disturbing tha Peace compilations and on a few mix tapes, such as Comeback Season by Canadian rapper Drake and Da Bottom, Vol. 5 by DJ Ideal and Jermaine Dupri. On March 13, 2007, Rich Boy released his self-titled debut album and with the success of his hit singles "Throw Some D's," "Boy Looka Here," "Good Things," and "Let's Get This Paper," the album went on to be certified Gold by the RIAA.
His second album will be entitled 5 Million. He said in an interview with djbooth.net that the first single will be released in the summer and indeed, the title will be 5 Million. However, the album title was recently reported as being changed to Buried Alive.

La la la,
La la la,
Ooooooo
La la la,
La la la,
La la la
Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah
Off in da gutter
Got da hood hollerin corner cutta
With Zone 4
Them young money gettin muthafukers
Ah Rich Boy
Gone and pass me da click toy
He spit boy
And I'm gonna have to make em trip boy
Sick and tired
Of niggas hollerin cut throat
When they ain't
Never had to get away from po-po
Ain't never have
To pay they bills from choppin up coke
Ain't never ever
Seen the barrel of a chopper smoke
Ah let them niggas out there kno yo name folk
Who me
I'm Mark Twain switch lanes
Flip change
And always keep a extra clip man
Blow da brains
On damn near everything I roll man
Been on my game
Every since them crocked folks came
Keep my hustle
On da low and a bitch in her place
And if you yappin
Out yo mouth then say it to my face
Full clip for
Niggas snitchin when they catch a case
Boy open up yo
Mouth and tell me hoe this barrel taste
Gangstaaaaaaaa
See da streets they be callin
See a young nigga ballin
Gangstaaaaaaaa
A young playa in the rap game
Ridin round in a Lac man
Gangstaaaaaaaa
Gangstaaaaaaaa
Them niggas ain't
Like it when I went and brought a blue mink
So now they
Talkin to da police at da precinct
But they ass
Don't kno them laws on a payroll
Might see me
In a ride that ain't even a day old
Talkin real
Loud but you ain't sayin nuthin
So stop frontin
Cause them hoes for you ain't fuckin
Keep truckin
Look here boy don't you stop here
It ain't magic
But that glock will make you disappear
You like a
Kid still writin love letters
You say you
Better but I'm still makin more cheddar
I'm too
Clever for these hoes to play me
Even crazy
Lazy ass hoes gonna pay me
I really
Hate when niggas talk too much
Jus cause you
Got a strap don't mean you can't get touched
You'll find me
In a 2 seater wit a all white beata
Gettin head
From yo bitch but yo dumbass see her
They say
Are-I-see-H-be-O and why
P-I-M-P
Bitch till I die
Sometimes I
Even have to ask myself why
Them niggas
So god damn fresh and so fly
Gangstaaaaaaaa
See da streets they be callin
See a young nigga ballin
Gangstaaaaaaaa
A young playa in the rap game
Ridin round in a Lac man
Gangstaaaaaaaa
Gangstaaaaaaaa
In the song "Gangsta" by Rich Boy, the rapper talks about his life on the streets and the challenges he faces as a gangster. He raps about his experience with hustling, making money and dealing with haters. He starts by talking about his friends and their affiliation with the Zone 4 gang. Rich Boy refers to himself as a "corner cutta," indicating that he is involved in the drug trade. He goes on to talk about his skills as a rapper, suggesting he has the ability to take on any perceived competition.
Later in the song, Rich Boy alludes to the fact that some of his rivals are snitches and that they are 'talking to the police.' He warns those who would betray him, saying that they better not stop or stay around him. The song has a hook that repeats the word 'gangsta' in a melodic manner. This melody, which is a sample from the song "Green Grass and High Tides" by The Outlaws, adds a bluesy touch to the song, underlining the strength of the message that Rich Boy delivers.
