Moon River
Richard Clayderman Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Moon river, wider than a mile
I'm crossing you in style some day
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker
Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way

Two drifters, off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end, waitin'
'round the bend
My huckleberry friend, moon river, and me

(moon river, wider than a mile)
(I'm crossin' you in style some day)
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker
Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way

Two drifters, off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after that same rainbow's end, waitin'

'round the bend
My huckleberry friend, moon river, and me

Overall Meaning

The song "Moon River" by Richard Clayderman is a classic that captures the essence of wanderlust and adventure. The lyrics paint the picture of a journey that two wandering souls are embarking upon. The two drifters are crossing the majestic Moon River, which is wider than a mile, in style, hoping to see the world in all its grandeur. They are searching for the end of a rainbow that will fulfill their desire for adventure and excitement. The dream maker, or fate, is a heartbreaker that can be both kind and cruel, but wherever it is taking them, they are willing to follow.

The scene is set for an idyllic trip with a huckleberry friend, a friend that two people can trust, have fun with and share the magic of life. Together, they will explore the world, discover new places, and encounter new experiences. The song captures the spirit of the journey, the joy of the wanderlust, and the comfort of a loyal friend.

Своею нежной красотой;
Чары волшебные кружила,
Над одинокою душой.

When I was little, my dad would play cassettes of Clayderman's hits in the car while he was driving my mom and me home from their work, where I would hang out after they'd pick me up from school. Every time I hear his piano arrangements, I remember every part of those car rides. Sitting in the back seat of our tiny blue Volvo 360, looking out the window at the nighttime city lights, and it was the best feeling in the world. <3
