My Romance
Rick Pino Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The night is like a lovely tune
Beware my foolish heart
How white the ever constant moon
Take care my foolish heart

There's a line between love and fascination
That's hard to see, how many names such as this
For they both have the very same sensation
When you're locked in the magic of a kiss

Her lips are much too close to mine
Beware my foolish heart
But should our eager lips combine
Then let the fire start

For this time it isn't fascination
Or a dream that will fade and fall apart

It's love, this time it's love
My foolish heart

Overall Meaning

The opening lines of Rick Pino's "My Romance" liken the night to a beautiful melody and warn the listener to beware of their own heart, which may act foolishly in the presence of a lover. The ever-constant moon shines white in the sky, adding to the romantic ambiance of the moment. The second stanza conveys a sense of confusion and uncertainty when it comes to distinguishing between love and fascination. Pino asks how many different words exist to describe the same intense feeling, as it can be difficult to tell where one emotion ends and the other begins. He suggests that kissing is the ultimate equalizer, as the magic of the moment is impossible to mistake.

The final lines of the song speak directly to the listener's heart, urging them to be cautious but not to shy away from love. Pino warns that lips that are too close may lead to foolish acts of passion, but that sometimes the risk is worth it. He emphasizes that this time, it is indeed true love, and not just a fleeting infatuation. In the end, the lyrics of "My Romance" paint a picture of a heart that is easily moved by love, but unable to resist its power.

What is old? or current? or cool? or whatever, in God's kingdom? Temporal vs. eternity. There are countless songs/hymns, inspired by the Holy Spirit, gifted to the Church through the ages, which are ignored/forgotten/discounted by so many congregations/movements in a quest to achieve some form of contemporary relevancy. (I'm not picking on you sister - but the general mindset).

Romans 15:5 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had, 6 so that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

7 Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God. 8 For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of God’s truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs might be confirmed 9 and, moreover, that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written:

“Therefore I will praise you among the Gentiles;
I will sing the praises of your name.”

10 Again, it says,

“Rejoice, you Gentiles, with his people.”

11 And again,

“Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles;
let all the peoples extol him.”

12 And again, Isaiah says,

“The Root of Jesse will spring up,
one who will arise to rule over the nations;
in him the Gentiles will hope.”

13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Remembering times in CFNI Him Klaus and Kari jobe simple the best

@sethmoran8220

I told several friends I miss this type or season of worship. Then I found out a close friend of mine attended CFNI during this time period. Kari and Rick led worship. Praise God for CFNI and the students that leave there to be ambassadors for Christ!

@whoopassph

Yup me too. It's like this type of worship haven't sort of reached its peak yet. Songs are still relevant to this day, but seems not many like this kind of worship music.

@sen187

I forgot about this song... so special.
