And (don't really care which side wins)
As long as the room keeps singing that's just the business I'm in
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race
I'm the leading man
And the lies I weave are oh so intricate, oh so intricate
I'm the leading man
And the lies I weave are oh so intricate, oh so intricate
I wrote the gospel on giving up (and looking pretty sinking)
But the real bombshells have already sunk (primadonnas of the gutter)
At night we're painting your trash gold, while you sleep
Crashing not like hips or cars but more like p-p-p-parties
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race
Bandwagon's full, please catch another
I'm the leading man
And the lies I weave are oh so intricate, oh so intricate
I'm the leading man
And the lies I weave are oh so intricate, oh so intricate
All the boys who the dancefloor didn't love, and all the girls whose lips couldn't move fast enough, sing, until your lungs give out
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race
(Now You)
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race
(Wear Out The Groove)
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race
(Sing Out Loud)
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race
(Oh,oh)
This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race
I'm the leading man
And the lies I weave are oh so intricate, oh so intricate
I'm the leading man
And the lies I weave are oh so intricate, oh so intricate
The lyrics of Rick Ross's "Prove Me Wrong" seem to be more in line with Fall Out Boy's "This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race" rather than credit going to Ross alone. The chorus "This ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race" is pulled straight from the song by the American rock band formed in Wilmette, Illinois. Ross's spin on the lyrics shows he believes he is providing meaningful and persuasive words to his audience, fitting them with weapons in the form of words. Ross is content with the outcome of whatever his listeners choose to do with what he's giving them, as long as they buy into what he's stating. The words Ross crafts sometimes come with malice, and he makes that clear when saying he's not a shoulder to cry on. However, Ross is still the leading man in the situation, and his craft of weaving lies is oh so intricate.
The verses themselves tie Ross's spin on "This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race" in nicely. Ross wrote the gospel on giving up, but real bombshells have already made their point. While his listeners are sleeping, he's up at night painting their trash gold, crashing into more than just hips, cars, or parties, but into people or situations they find themselves in. His leading exclamation confirms that he's the top man with the intricate lies. The final verse is a call from Ross to his listeners to join and sing with him until they can't any longer. He finishes repeating "this ain't a scene, it's a goddamn arms race," completing the connection to the Fall Out Boy original. Nevertheless, Ross seems to be the primary voice behind this remix, and his interpretation of the original chorus adds a new layer of meaning.
