For You
Ricky/Rick Nelson Lyrics

For you, yes baby for you
I'll make a string of pearls out of the dew
For you, yes baby for you
Over the highway and over the street
Carpets of clover I'll lay at your feet
I wouldn't do, for you, yes baby for you
Over the highway and over the street
Carpets of clover I'll lay at your feet
Oh well it's nothing in this world
I wouldn't do, for you, yes baby for you
I wouldn't do, yes baby for you
Oh I wouldn't do, yes baby for you
Oh I wouldn't do, yes baby for you
The lyrics to Ricky/Rick Nelson's "For You" express a deep devotion and willingness to go to great lengths to show love and affection. The first two lines reveal the singer's commitment to gathering stars out of the blue and stringing pearls out of the dew for their beloved. This imagery is particularly powerful because it suggests a magical, otherworldly quality to the love the singer feels. It is as if they are saying, "I will use all the wonders of the universe to show my love for you."
The next lines reveal the extent to which the singer is willing to go to make their love known. They will lay carpets of clover at their beloved's feet, which suggests the singer is willing to put in a great deal of effort and time to demonstrate their love. The repetition of the lines "Over the highway and over the street" serves to reinforce this message.
The singer then declares that there is "nothing in this world" they would not do for their beloved. This line is particularly impactful, as it suggests that the singer is willing to go to any length, no matter how difficult or challenging, to show their love. The final lines repeat this sentiment several times, driving home the singer's commitment to their beloved.
Overall, the lyrics to "For You" express a deep love and devotion that is willing to go to great lengths to show itself. Through the use of evocative imagery, repetition, and powerful language, the singer makes it clear that there is nothing they wouldn't do for their beloved.

Saw Ricky in concert August 1984. He gave a fabulous show and afterwards instead of leaving the stage he stayed after the show and went to the foot of the stage and personally thanked his fans for caring enough to come and see him and he talked with them, gave autographs, shook hands, let them take pictures etc. He was very warm friendly and accessible to them. And yes I went to the stage and met him and thanked him for coming and giving us a wonderful show and for all his wonderful music.

I discovered Ricky's music only yesterday, though some songs like Poor Little Fool, Hello Mary Lou and Garden Party sounded quite familiar so I must have heard them before. But so far, this one is my favorite, followed by She Belongs To Me. This man was more than just a teenage idol. And what an unlikely teenage idol! At seventeen he looked like a thirty-year-old with that stern face, business suit and chest hair. At the time of his death he looked not a day older than in the late 1950s.

One of my favorites .Never heard it before in Stereo. Shows what talent he had . He could sing different types of songs. When I was a kid , I thought Rick was a better singer than Elvis. Still feel that wayl Elvis was all about promotion like Justin Beiber today
