From the age of 7 to 10, Rie fu lived in Maryland, United States. She was greatly influenced by The Carpenters and female singers/songwriters such as Sheryl Crow and Michelle Branch. Rie fu started writing songs in high school with her piano and guitar. Within a year, her talents were recognized by Sony, who released her first single in March 2004.
Rie fu's songs are often bilingual. Although most of her songs are primarily sung in Japanese, many feature entire verses written in English. Her debut album features two entirely English songs, "Voice" and "Shine," both of which she wrote herself. Of her songs written entirely in Japanese, at least two have later been released with English language versions.
Rie completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, London, in 2007. She has returned to Japan to further pursue her musical career.
Rie fu maintains a blog in Japanese.

There isn't a day I don't think about it
迷う心が 君に届くように
この月明かりの下で 私の名前を呼んで
たしかに逢にゆくよ どこへでも
君のそばに
この月明かり 瞬きひとつせず
静かに私を見つめていた
君との未来をさがしてた
この光の中に..
These lyrics are from Rie fu's song "Tsukiakari" which means "Moonlight". The song talks about being captivated by the beauty and weightiness of things in life and the longing for love and companionship. The singer stands alone under the blue moonlit sky, calling out to the person they love. They have always relied on the power of believing and being present, feeling that this brings them closer to their loved one. The tranquility of the night makes them think about how they cannot seem to grab onto anything, but they always imagine and remember the person they love. The singer does not want to be lost anymore and calls out their own name under the moonlight, knowing that they will meet their loved one soon, wherever they may be.
The song evokes a sense of melancholy and longing, yet the singer is hopeful that they will find love someday and be together with the person they call out to under the moonlight. The song could be interpreted as an ode to love and the power of believing in oneself and being present.

every year this song is in my list and make me feeling melancholic about the best friend lost in '11. He would have been 23 this year...I miss him every day.
@MemekingJag
I'm sorry for your loss. Even though it must be painful to remember him, he's never truly gone as long as memories of him remain. His impact on the world carries on through you, and the others that remember him.
@GelsonHealthyEQ
Sorry to ask, how did he pass away?

Darker Than Black was just a great show, for most people I know season 2 wasn't their cup of tea but I'm glad there was more story to tell.
