Mulai menyanyi jazz saat ikut dalam acara Nada & Improvisasi Jack Lesmana di TVRI Jakarta pada era 1970-an. Bersama Jack Lesmana pula dia membuat rekamannya yang pertama pada tahun 1976, dengan judul Api Asmara, yang cukup sukses. Pada tahun 1978, ia merekam album kedua, berjudul Air Mata, dan pada tahun 1979 meluncurkan album ketiga yang berjudul Tuan dan Kami. Bersama Jopie Item Combo dan Abadi Soesman Big Band, membuat rekaman bergaya bosanova. Ia juga salah seorang penyanyi yang merintis acara jazz di Pasar Seni Ancol, Jakarta, yang tampil diiringi band yang dipimpin oleh Karim Suweileh (drumer).
Penyanyi jazz yang seangkatan dengan Ermy Kulit dan Margie Segers. Selain pandai bernyanyi, ia juga mengarang lagu. Ia banyak berkerja sama dengan Jack Lesmana di tahun 70an.
