Right Away, Great Captain! recorded their debut album The Bitter End over a span of 3 days in a 100 year old log cabin near Bastian, VA in August of 2006. It is a concept record concerning a 17th century sailor at sea for 3 years. Each song is a journal entry to either his family at home, or his captain.
Part two of the story The Eventually Home was released in 2008.
The final part of the trilogy The Church Of The Good Thief was released mid-January of 2012. 6 months later in July, The Lost Sea was released.
Night Marry You

During the war, with your heart
I can see strait down your crooked teeth
You feel so dumb, mouth open large
You′ve got exactly what I'm drinking for
Darling you can bet to see my ghost
Up on the wall watching you eat
Grinding my mouth losing my teeth
You are exactly what a night-mares for
I′ll night marry you
Skipper I can barely swab the deck
Slipping around on fishes bones
Commonly I write more than I speak about our love with sticks and stones
I've seen you cast away this cast before
And your casting spells again
Doctor I've got bandages and bloods
Places underneath my minute gun
Finally the funeral unique
To all my sins, there all long long
They are exactly what this crying is for
They are exactly what this dying is for
They are exactly what I′m dying for
In "Night Marry You," Right Away Great Captain! tells a haunting and introspective story filled with vivid imagery and emotional turmoil. The lyrics convey a sense of longing, regret, and desperation.
The opening lines depict a longing for physical intimacy, with the singer expressing the desire for their partner to hold them closely. The reference to the war and the heart suggests that their relationship may have been tumultuous or filled with conflict. The mention of crooked teeth and feeling dumb implies a sense of vulnerability and insecurity, as if the singer feels inadequate in their partner's eyes. Despite these insecurities, the singer finds solace in the fact that their partner possesses the qualities they are searching for in a companion.
The second paragraph introduces the idea of the singer being a ghost, watching their partner from afar. The dream imagery suggests that thoughts of their partner and their relationship consume the singer's mind, to the point of grinding their teeth. The line "You are exactly what a night-mares for" implies that the partner represents the darkness and fear that one would typically associate with a nightmare. The phrase "night marry you" could suggest the singer's commitment to their partner despite these difficulties and fears.
The third paragraph shifts to a different perspective, with the singer addressing someone referred to as the "Skipper." The mention of slipping around on fish bones and writing about love with sticks and stones suggests that their relationship has been unstable and filled with challenges. The line "cast away this cast before" suggests that the Skipper has previously discarded or dismissed the singer's feelings. However, the Skipper is now casting spells again, perhaps indicating that they are manipulating or controlling the singer's emotions.
In the final paragraph, the singer addresses a doctor, stating that they have bandages and bloods, which could symbolize their emotional wounds. The phrase "places underneath my minute gun" suggests that the singer's emotional pain is hidden beneath a tough exterior or a facade of strength. The funeral mentioned could refer to a symbolic gathering or acknowledgement of the singer's sins and mistakes. Ultimately, the singer accepts that this crying and dying is a direct result of their actions or choices.
Overall, "Night Marry You" delves into the complexities of relationships, exploring themes of longing, vulnerability, insecurity, and accepting the consequences of one's actions. It evokes a sense of melancholy and introspection, inviting listeners to reflect on the darker aspects of love and human connection.
