Rock On

Everybody's been there
Everyone everyone
Desolation angel
On the cover of my paper
Loves everyone everyone
Mild mouthed Rita
She's a Chevy Chase cheetah
Loves everyone everyone
Teddy's going steady
He's a silver-plated poet
Loves everyone loves everyone
Prophet pumped the car-scar
Deeper only sweeter
Loves everyone
The song "Rock On" by Rikki Rockett is an ode to the wild rock 'n' roll lifestyle. The opening line, "I've been down there, everybody's been there, everyone, everyone" describes the depths of despair that one reaches when they immerse themselves in the party scene. It suggests that everyone has hit rock bottom at some point in their life, but there's always a way to rock on.
The verse "Desolation angel on the cover of my paper, loves everyone, everyone" refers to an angel of death who has become a celebrity of sorts. The phrase "loves everyone" may signify that despite the wickedly alluring nature of this lifestyle, it's hard not to be drawn to it. The chorus "Rock on, rock on" is a call to embrace the rock 'n' roll lifestyle with abandon, as if to say, "Live your life to the fullest."
The rest of the verses describe some of the characters one might encounter in the rock 'n' roll world, including "Mild mouthed Rita" and "Teddy's going steady." Each of these characters is unapologetically living their life and loving everyone around them. The final line, "Prophet pumped the car-scar, deeper only sweeter, loves everyone," is a metaphor for the hedonistic nature of this world. The more you indulge, the deeper you dive, and the more you'll love it.
