Better For It

Ah-ah
Ah-ah
I wouldn't say I would've chosen it
That time I hit the bottom and it hurt a little bit
Funny how being down can make you look up
But now I'm better for it
All I could see in the moment was
My heart and how it felt ripped open, I'll admit
I found You down low in the brokenness
And now I'm better for it
I count it all as joy even when I'm in the flame
'Cause I know You always
Gimme, gimme, gimme grace when I need it
Hindsight 20/20, now I see that
You let me be where I've been
So I can be all that I am
You gimme, gimme, gimme faith to believe that
When it hurts, there's a real good reason
You let me be where I've been
So I can be all that I am
Better for it
Yeah, I used to think pain was a consequence
But now I kinda think it might be the perfect gift
You use to get me straight to You
And I'm better for it
I count it all as joy even when I'm in the flame
'Cause I know You always
Gimme, gimme, gimme grace when I need it
Hindsight 20/20, now I see that
You let me be where I've been
So I can be all that I am
You gimme, gimme, gimme faith to believe that
When it hurts, there's a real good reason
You let me be where I've been
So I can be all that I am
Better for it
Down low
Down in the broken
I found You
And I'm better for it
Down low
Down in the broken
I found You
And I'm better for it
I'm better 'cause I'll never have to be the way I would be
Without You, without You
Leading me where You want me
I'm better 'cause I'll never have to be the way I would be
Without You, without You
Leading me where You want me
Gimme, gimme, gimme grace when I need it
Hindsight 20/20, now I see that
You let me be where I've been
So I can be all that I am
You gimme, gimme, gimme faith to believe that
When it hurts, there's a real good reason
You let me be where I've been
So I can be all that I am
Better for it
Down low
Down in the broken
I found You
And I'm better for it
Down low
Down in the broken
I found You
And I'm better for it
Down low
Down in the broken
I found You
And I'm better for it
Down low
Down in the broken
I found You
And I'm better for it
In Riley Clemmons's song "Better For It," the lyrics reflect a story of personal growth and resilience. The song begins by acknowledging that the singer wouldn't have chosen the difficult moments in their life, the moments when they hit rock bottom and experienced pain. However, they have come to realize that these moments were necessary for their growth and development. The singer recognizes that being down and broken can actually motivate them to look up and seek something greater. In the midst of their brokenness, they found solace and strength in a higher power, represented as "You" in the song.
The lyrics emphasize the idea that every experience, even the painful ones, serves a purpose. The chorus suggests that the singer counts it all as joy, even when faced with hardships, because they have come to trust that there is a reason behind their pain. They express gratitude for the grace and faith that have been bestowed upon them during these challenging times.
Throughout the song, there is a strong sense of redemption and self-acceptance. The singer realizes that pain is not just a consequence but also a gift that has led them to a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationship with their higher power. The lyrics convey a sense of gratitude for the journey they have been on, including the lows and brokenness they experienced, as it has ultimately made them better and stronger.
