RIP
Ringo Deathstarr Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You're always sighing, so sick of trying
You say you'll feel well, I know you're lying

But all your dreams are far away, and it always rips you everyday

You're always sighing, and you destroy me
I said I'd feel well, who wants to love me?
But all your dreams are far away, and it always rips you everyday
Even when the stars come out at night, your words will doze and sleep around

You're always fighting, I'm always crying
You know that I feel well, I'm always lying

But all your dreams are far away, and it always rips you everyday
But all your dreams are far away, and it always rips you everyday

Even when the stars come out at night, your words will doze and sleep around
It's merely the same

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Rip in 2 by Ringo Deathstarr explore the feelings of a relationship that is falling apart. The first verse shows the frustration of one partner who is tired of always trying to make the relationship work despite their partner's lack of effort. They can see through their partner's lies when they say they'll feel better and are tired of always being let down. This feeling of hopelessness and disappointment continues in the chorus where the partner's dreams are far away and they are unable to achieve them, causing them pain every day. Even the comfort of the stars at night cannot bring them any solace because their words are empty and meaningless.

In the second verse, the roles are somewhat reversed, as the partner who was once tired of trying now feels well, but the other partner is still distant and unloving. The chorus remains the same, amplifying the despair and frustration in the relationship, with conflicts often leading to more tears and fighting, but nothing seems to change. The final line, "it's merely the same," summarizes the stagnant and painful nature of their relationship.

Overall, the lyrics of Rip in 2 by Ringo Deathstarr delve deep into the pain and frustration of a crumbling relationship, where one partner is constantly let down and the other partner is unable or unwilling to meet their needs. The chorus emphasizes the despair and hopelessness that both partners feel, despite their efforts to fix things.

Ringo Deathstarr do sound alot like MBV but more dream-pop and less arty. They just wanna make great psychedelic pop and they do a great job at it. They're one of my favorite underground artists right now.

pancakerepairman

more dream-pop? maybe on some songs. MBV sounded like so many different things throughout their discography and Ringo Deathstarr has vastly different songs emulating all of them.
