So what
They don't wanna see us together baby
So what
So what
It don't even matter
So what
So what
So what
So what
It don't even matter
She said I ain't usually her type
You don't wanna wife me no
You just wanna play
Another every day
I can see it in your face
Our love is on another level
They might say that we're not compatible
But baby you know I'm
A rebel
I'm no stranger to some trouble
I can give a fuck about what they say
Baby come and be my baby baby anyway
I can be yours for tonight
I can see it in your face
You don't care what they gon' say no
Cause you love me too
So what
So what
They don't wanna see us together baby
So what
So what
It don't even matter
She be going back and forth
In her head
Thinking bout both off us
Is it real
Is it possible that this boy really loves me
I might act like I just want every woman
But to me
You are every woman
Every woman
Every woman
Every woman
I can give a fuck about what they say
Baby come and be my baby baby anyway
I can be yours for tonight
I can see it in your face
You don't care what they gon' say no
Cause you love me too
Our love is on another level
They might say that we're not compatible
But baby you know I'm
A rebel
I'm no stranger to some trouble
So what
So what
They don't wanna see us together baby
So what
So what
It don't even matter
I can give a fuck about what they say
Baby come and be my baby baby anyway
I can be yours for tonight
I can see it in your face
You don't care what they gon' say no
Cause you love me too
The song "Be My Baby" by Rio and the Rockabilly Revival is a heartfelt plea for two people to be together despite what others might think of them. The song opens and closes with the repeated lines "So what/They don't wanna see us together baby/So what/It don't even matter," emphasizing that the opinions of others should not be a barrier to love. The lyrics suggest that the couple has faced criticism or judgment from others, perhaps because they are an unconventional match or because of societal expectations. However, the singer emphasizes that their love is on another level and that they are willing to defy expectations and be rebels for each other. The chorus's repetition of "Be my baby" further emphasizes the singer's desire for a deeper, meaningful connection, while the final line of "cause you love me too" emphasizes the mutuality of their feelings.
The song's second verse introduces some doubt and conflict on the part of the female partner, who is depicted as weighing the possibility of a real, lasting love against the singer's reputation as a womanizer. However, the chorus suggests that she ultimately decides to take a chance on their love, recognizing that they share a special connection that transcends any initial doubts or judgments. Overall, the song champions the power of love to overcome social barriers and encourages listeners to follow their hearts and pursue love even in the face of opposition.
