I'm sorry
Riotron Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Lately I have seen that things have changed between us
And I don′t know how to bring us back together
Everyone says eventually our differences will pass
But when?! What if it's never?!

On and On and On and On it goes
Hey!
On and On, but why? nobody knows
′Cause nobody's wrong but nobody
Wants to say the words we ought to say
Yeah!
I'm Sorry

I must admit the things you say have changed me
You find the truth in places I find fiction
You say, "What if we agree to disagree?"
But why?! and how?!
Yeah!
When there′s so much friction

On and On and On and On it goes
Hey!
On and On, but why? nobody knows
(And on it goes)
′Cause nobody's wrong but nobody
Wants to say the words we ought to say
Yeah!
I′m Sorry
On and On and On and On it goes

Back in time I'd like to find a way to
Take back the words we can never unsay

Lately I have seen that things have changed between us
And I don′t know how to bring us back together

On and On and On and On it goes
Yeah!
Hey!
On and On, but why? nobody knows
'Cause nobody′s wrong but nobody
Wants to say the words we ought to say
Yeah!
I'm Sorry

On and On and On and On it goes

(On and On and On and On and On it goes)
(And on it goes)
(On and On and On and On and On it goes)
(And on it goes)
(On and On and On and On and On it goes)
(And on it goes)

(On and On and On and On and On it goes)
(And on it goes)...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Riotron's "I'm Sorry" are about the distance and friction that has developed between two people in a relationship. The singer acknowledges that something has changed between them and they don't know how to fix it. They're frustrated by the fact that everyone keeps telling them that their differences will eventually pass, but they want to know when that will happen. The repetition of the phrase "On and On and On and On it goes" emphasizes the sense of ongoing and unending frustration and uncertainty.

The second verse focuses on the impact that the other person's words have had on the singer. They admit that the other person has changed them and helped them see the truth in things they previously thought were fiction. However, despite this shift in perspective, they still can't seem to find common ground. The line "What if we agree to disagree?" expresses the other person's desire to move past the conflict without actually resolving it, which only adds to the singer's frustration.

The chorus repeats the "On and On" phrase, emphasizing the ongoing nature of the conflict. The final verse expresses regret for things that have been said that can never be taken back, and ends with a repetition of the opening lines, expressing the singer's continued sense of helplessness in the face of this conflict.

I have seen plenty of videos and heard several different songs that have an underlying political meaning and this one seemed to come out at a pretty opportune time. Although this song has some comedic relief, it seems to have a serious message being portrayed. I think this speaks to a broad audience and it communicates well. I feel like the amount of hardship this county is going through has a direct correlation to our government and their inability to speak to each other across the aisle and to the people. They don’t always consider the effects of their decision making.

I'm sending this to all my friends. YES YES YES. We need to get along as a country right now. It's time to stop fighting about every little things and come together. I want us to embody this message.
