Ripe Banana Skins Lyrics

Porque no te pones a trabajar
8 horas y vestis normal
Y nos dejas de molestar
Con tu lamentito colombiano
Mejor te conseguis un nuevo oficio
Porque en este hermano estas quemao
Eres un payaso man
Mira como estas
Eso no es arte nose a quien quisiste mentir
Tanto circo armaste pa meter dinero por tu nariz
Y ahora salis cantando en la television
Narices rojas
Ojos desorbitados
Mucha actitud de rock and roll
Pero empeñaste la guitarra y adoptaste el rayador
Mira como vas
Eres un payaso man
Mira como estas
Como me quiero lo hago por dinero
Lo que espero es...
Un milagro que me ayude a dejar todo lo que tuve
Lo que pude, lo que amaba, respetaba
Y ahora todo eso quedo tan atras
Mira como vas
Eres un payaso man
Mira como estas
Somos distintos
Que va hacer
El unico verde que nos puede corromper
Es el que envuelves en un papel
The lyrics to Ripe Banana Skins' song "Payaso" are a commentary on a person who chooses to pursue a career as a clown or performer in entertainment, despite apparent criticism or ridicule from society. The lyrics encourage the clown to abandon their current profession and find a new job - one that is more stable and in line with social norms. The opening lines suggest that the issue at hand is one of attitude versus a lack of work ethic, and the lyrics go on to criticize the clown's behavior and Colombian background.
The chorus of the song repeats "Mira como vas, eres un payaso man" which translates to "Look how you're going, you're a clown man". By labeling the person as a clown, the lyrics imply that their behavior is silly or foolish, therefore, they need to change their attitude and find a new profession. The subsequent lines reference the clown's attempts to promote themselves and make money using exaggerated antics, which the lyrics suggest is not art. This is then followed by commentary on the clown's appearance, including "Narices rojas" (red noses) and "Ojos desorbitados" (crazy eyes), as well as their lack of stability and responsibility, symbolized by selling their guitar for a gratification.
The final lines suggest that the song's perspective is that the clown represents a kind of corruption not found in other areas of society, proposing that the only thing that could corrupt them is the money they can make through their work, and the paper that money is wrapped in.
