Enter Sandman
Rise To Remain Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Don't forget my son
To include everyone
I tuck you in, warm within
Keep you free from sin
'Til the sandman he comes
Sleep with one eye open
Gripping your pillow tight
Enter night
Take my hand
We're off to never-never land
Something's wrong, shut the light
Heavy thoughts tonight
And they aren't of Snow White
Dreams of war, dreams of liars
Dreams of dragon's fire
And of things that will bite, yeah
Sleep with one eye open
Gripping your pillow tight
Exit light
Enter night
Take my hand
We're off to never-never land
Now I lay me down to sleep
Now I lay me down to sleep
Pray the lord my soul to keep
Pray the lord my soul to keep
If I die before I wake
If I die before I wake
Pray the lord my soul to take
Pray the lord my soul to take
Hush little baby don't say a word
And never mind that noise you heard
It's just the beasts under your bed
In your closet in your head
Exit light
Enter night
Grain of sand
Exit light
Enter night
Take my hand
We're off to never-never land
Boo! Yeah yeah!
We're off to never-never land
Take my hand
We're off to never-never land
Take my hand
We're off to never-never land
We're off to never-never land
We're off to never-never land
The song "Enter Sandman" by Rise To Remain is a cover of Metallica's iconic song of the same name. The lyrics of the song are a reflection of the fear and anxiety that a child might feel while going to sleep. The opening lines of the song, "Say your prayers little one, Don't forget my son, To include everyone", suggest a parental figure reassuring and comforting the child, telling them to say their prayers and to not forget to include everyone in them. The next few lines talk about the Sandman, a mythical figure who puts children to sleep by sprinkling sand in their eyes. The chorus "Exit light, Enter night, Take my hand, We're off to never-never land" symbolizes the transition from consciousness to sleep and the dreamworld beyond.
The second verse of the song takes a darker turn, as the child's imagination runs wild and conjures up images of war, liars, and fire-breathing dragons. The lyrics "Hush little baby don't say a word, And never mind that noise you heard, It's just the beasts under your bed, In your closet in your head" suggest that the child's fears are irrational and that they need to be put to rest, the parent or comforting figure soothing them into a peaceful slumber.
The song is ultimately about facing one's fears and overcoming them, or at least learning to cope with them. The catchy, heavy riff and vocals create a sense of urgency and tension, evoking the fear and anxiety of a child, while the lyrics and melody provide a sense of comfort and safety.

Wait... This is Austin on vocals?
Damn... He never ceases to impress me
His screams are great, and growls, and then his cleans have quite the range, and now he's doing like a James hetfield... I approve
Bonanza Jellybean
I'm not a huge fan of Metallica- but this I do like. I might catch flack for this but I honestly like his vocal better than Hetfield.
