Formed in late 2002, Seattle's Rishloo continue to gain wide-spread recognition for their dynamic sound, thought-provoking lyrics and intense live performance. Often compared to bands like Dredg, The Mars Volta, Tool, and Fair to Midland, Rishloo strives to push the envelope of psychedelic, progressive art-rock, drawing inspiration from classic artists like The Beatles, David Bowie, and Pink Floyd, while incorporating the modern experimentation and emotional depth of artists such as Tori Amos, Deftones, Radiohead, Porcupine Tree, and more.
In February 2012 the band announced that Andrew, the vocalist, decided to leave the band, this being the unexpected end of Rishloo. The remaining members briefly formed the band The Ghost Apparatus, until late in 2013 when Andrew and the band rejoined forces. On October 10th 2013 the band announced that they had decided to move forward making music as Rishloo.
Continuing as they have since their inception as an entirely independent venture, Rishloo have sold 5,500+ units of their debut album, Terras Fames (2004) and 9,500+ units of their sophomore effort, Eidolon (2007) while attracting tens of thousands of fans online from around the globe. Interest in the band continues to grow exponentially on sites such as Myspace, Facebook, YouTube, ReverbNation, and Last.FM.
With a lot of hard work and much appreciated help from their fans, Rishloo continue to travel and perform whenever possible throughout the U.S. and parts of Canada. In the course of their adventures, they have been privileged to share the stage with artists like Karnivool, Papa Roach, Fair to Midland, Ashes Divide, Sevendust, Trapt, Strata, and Judas Priest.
The band's latest effort, Living as Ghosts with Buildings as Teeth, was released December 2014.

I've always known that the smiles that were shown were plastic and hollow lines
And I'll be damned,
Your metaphor dollar-fed god got into my head
Hey now, plastics, gather 'round, now you're waitin' with your hands out for the blood flies to come and carry you home
Doubt is a crime and I caught me at last running circles in rounded-off places
...Why don't we pull apart, look inside the curtains of origins that imitate life
And where you are is where I'll be floating arms of azure seize
Who will you inspire?
As I watch this world below, and the world I watch grows smaller and smaller
Fear and love all collide and all at once
The piper plays green tearing the sleeves pulled up from the sea and thrown Through the ceiling
Stepping stones so carefully untouched
You'll only leave this world alone
Strange that you think you can fly
Strapped to a stone in a blinked needle's eye
I'll be damned, your all-time-low just lowered again
Hey now plastics gather round now you're waitin' with your hands out, waitin' for the war flies,
Waitin' for the blood flies to come and carry you home
The lyrics of Rishloo's song River of Glass depict feelings of doubt, disillusionment, and a search for authenticity. The first few lines suggest that the singer is looking for a way to cleanse themselves, possibly from the lies and fake personas around them. They mention hearing about a bath in a river of glass and deciding to take it. This is likely a metaphor for a painful and revealing process of self-reflection, where one's flaws and insecurities are brought to the surface.
In the next few lines, the singer questions the sincerity of those around them. They mention that the smiles they have seen were plastic and hollow, indicating that the relationships and interactions around them have been disingenuous. They then blame this on a metaphorical "dollar-fed god," suggesting that societal pressures and materialism have led people to compromise their authenticity.
The chorus addresses the "plastics" around the singer, who are "waitin' with [their] hands out" for something to come and save them. This is possibly a reference to those who are waiting for the next trend or fad to make them happy. The song continues with imagery of doubt and the difficulty of finding genuine hope in a world of superficiality. The last few lines suggest that the singer thinks everyone will eventually face their own mortality and that they should focus on the meaningful connections and inspirations they leave behind.
