I Call You
Rita Springer Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You made the light. You made the night.
You called it "sky." You called it "sea."
You made the day. You made the dark.
You told wings to fly, gave life to the deep.

And with the dust You made the one
Who You redeemed with Your own Son.
And with every You breath You breathed in me
I stand in awe, and I sing.

I call You Maker. I call You Savior.
I call You Mighty. I call You God.
I call You Father. I call You Faithful.
I call You Everything that I've got.

I call You Jesus. I call You Healer.
I call You Mercy. I call You mine.
I call You one who always will come through.
You are the Lord who captures my heart.

You made the sun. You made the stars,
And with a bone You countered a part.
You love the lost. You want them found.
You are the Rose, You wore the crown.

I call You one who always will come through.
You are the Lord who captures my heart.

Overall Meaning

In this song, Rita Springer sings about how God has created everything in the world and gave life to it. She acknowledges God's power and authority by saying that He created everything that exists, including the light, the night, the sky, and the sea. She also acknowledges God's role in creating living beings like birds and sea creatures, which were given the ability to fly and swim respectively. She ultimately recognizes that all of creation points to the fact that God is Maker and Savior.

The second verse talks about how God has created humans in His image, and how we are all redeemed by His Son, Jesus. Rita sings about how every breath she takes is a gift from God, and how she stands in awe of His power and majesty. She then goes on to list different names for God, such as Father, Faithful and Everything I've got, showing that her relationship with God is deep and meaningful.

The chorus of the song continues to list different names for God, such as Jesus, Healer, and Mercy. It portrays a personal relationship with God, as Rita sings about how much God means to her and how much she relies on Him. The last line, "You are the Lord who captures my heart," sums up the essence of the song: that God is everything to her he takes up a significant portion of her life and love.
