In Case You Care
Ritual Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

When you've been kept warm in cold nights,
My heart's been frozen by the coldness of my own blood
You don't know what it meant and not even what it felt like
Don't tell me who I am, don't tell me who I have to be
What doesn't kill makes strong, it didn't kill me so beware
What doesn't kill makes strong
I'm not down, in case you care
It didn't kill me so beware
It didn't kill me, in case you care

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Ritual's song "In Case You Care" express the singer's feelings of being misunderstood and underestimated by those around them. The opening lines create a stark contrast between the singer's experience of emotional warmth and the coldness they feel within themselves. They suggest that while someone else may have provided comfort and support during difficult times, the singer has not been able to find that same solace within themselves. The use of the phrase "my own blood" adds a visceral element to the imagery, emphasizing the internal struggle the singer is facing.

The subsequent lines address the idea of others trying to define who the singer is or ought to be. They reject this notion, asserting their autonomy and insisting that they cannot be pigeonholed. This sentiment is reinforced by the repeated refrain "what doesn't kill makes strong," indicating that the singer has faced challenges and overcome them in their own way. The lines "I'm not down, in case you care / It didn't kill me so beware" suggest a defiant confidence, as if the singer is daring anyone who doubts them to try and bring them down.

Overall, "In Case You Care" is a powerful and introspective song that speaks to the experience of feeling unseen and underestimated. The lyrics convey a sense of defiance and self-assurance, even in the face of adversity.

Isn't Kykeon delicious?

Botticella89

I always found it interesting that the mentions of kykeon remind me of what we call in the southern USA, grits. Depending on how you cook it can be rather soupy. And kykeon sounds like it was used as a ritualistic "power drink" until people could sit down and have a proper meal.

A Power drink just like a Whey Protein Shake

@Secret Histories with Spencer Green yes indeed. People need to start a new eleusinian mysteries type of rite of passage....imagine how efficiently humanity could wake from its slumber

Secret Histories with Spencer Green

I'd say the Kykeon was a highly revered and very powerful psychedelic potionโ€”meant to facilitate and initiate communion with the 'holy other'.
