Jordan
Rival Sons Lyrics

And the ocean to the sky
I've looked to you my whole life
Now I have to say goodbye
But to say that I've lost you
Is a selfish thing to say
I've never seen nothing as beautiful
As watching you slip away
Ooh
I'd rather see you go in the arms of your angels
Than to stay right here with me
I'll meet you on the other side of the Jordan
Now let your soul go free
You did it all with feeling
And failure, you took it gracefully
You said, "Third star to the right, straight until morning
When you need me, you know that's where I'll be"
Now the rest of my life without you
Right now it's hard to conceive
You said, "Don't cry for me now, you've got to remember
There is no death for those that believe"
Ooh
I'd rather see you go in the arms of your angels
Than to keep you right here with me
I'll meet you on the other side of the Jordan
Now let your soul go free
Let your soul go free
Meet you on the other side of the Jordan
Now let your soul be free
Rather see you go in the arms of your angels
Than to keep you right here with me
On the other side of the Jordan
Let your soul go free
In the arms of your angels
Than keep you right here with me
Meet you on the other side of the Jordan
Than to keep you right here with me
Rather see you go in the arms of your angels
Let your soul be free
Meet you on the other side of the Jordan
Let your soul be free
Rather see you go in the arms of your angels
Than keep you right here
The lyrics to Rival Sons' "Jordan" are a moving tribute to a loved one who has passed away. The song opens with the image of wolves looking up at the moon and the ocean reaching towards the sky, and the singer reflects on how he has always looked up to the person he has lost. He acknowledges that it is selfish to say he has lost them, as their beauty remains with him even as they slip away. The chorus expresses the sentiment that he would rather see them go with their angels, to find freedom from their pain or suffering, than to keep them here with him.
The second verse highlights the person's strength and grace in the face of failure and adversity, and they share a comforting message to the singer that they will always be there for him, a guiding star to light the way. The final choruses repeat the idea of meeting the person on the other side of the Jordan River, an allusion to the afterlife, and letting their soul be free with their angels. The overall tone is one of sadness and loss, but also of an acceptance that death is not an end, but a transition to another world.

Sometimes we want people to stay here with us because we care so much about them. However they are at their time to leave us and pass. Often to stay for them means suffering for many reasons. In that situation wanting to keep them here can be selfish in a way! It all comes down to whats best for them, not us! Hard to say let alone do! This song touches that issue.....
"I'd rather see you go in the arms of your angels
Than to keep you right here with me.
I'll meet you on the other side of the Jordan
Now let your soul go free......"
Beautiful and Sad, yet true!
If you have experienced this you can really appreciate this song even more!

So far there are only 241 demons attacking.
There are more than 13,000 angels singing along with just this one song.
Goodness still outnumbers evil, as now you can see.
I'll meet you on the other side of the Jordan, once I am proven wrong.
God Bless The Rival Sons and their ministry.
You restore faith, love and truth.
Grateful for eternity,
Cedric P.
God Bless you.

17 months ago, my father passed away and Jordan helped me so much to deal with my grief. Now, I lost my mother last wednesday. I was holding her in my arms when she passed away. So sad... but, again, Jordan helped me to deal with my new grief. May God bless Rival Sons.
@angievisintin1672

God Bless you brother. Although loss is natural, grief is hard. On your own, and with others.
Glad you found support in this art. All the best to you.

Gene Simons is wrong . . . Rock didn't die, his talent did. Rival Sons are real rock and they are keeping rock alive and well. I'm a huge fan of Rival Sons.
@swampyD1000
I like your analogy. I'm just discovering Rival Sons - really dig their "Good Things" song.
@alexandereverhart654
swampyD1000 I absolutely love "Good Things". Not only is the music really good, but the lyrics are incredible. It's my go too song when life feels overwhelming. It just helps me to remember that nothing lasts forever, not even the bad times.
