For the people who don't find it funny, this is a short bit out of the full 6 minutes that was his act at this roast. This little snippet takes the whole thing out of context. Anti roasts are refreshing. I hate how every comic finds the need to step as far over the line as they possibly can without getting backlash. I get it if you don't like that approach, but after awhile hearing the same vulgar jokes over and over it gets old for me fast. Sometimes you just need a shitty pun to brighten up your day :)

It was the same basic concept of doing horrible jokes, but Andy did it clearly as a bit. He was playing a character and was making sure that people were in on the joke, while Norm went over there as himself and just bombed on purpose with his horrible puns. They're both great but I just liked Norm's better. R.I.P.

I do think Andy has funnier bits, but I really like what he did here. A lot of American comedians get well-known for their roasts, but truthfully, that shit isn't funny at all. It's mean and it's hurtful, even if said jokingly. I personally don't find humor in humiliating someone, which is why it makes me love Andy Samberg all the more that he did this.

Recent roasts have gotten stale... almost the same faces would show up roast after roast, telling the same jokes; it was the to the point where we could almost predict everything. What made it all so much better, was that many of the guests are actually friends of Franco and not just comics for hire. It didn't feel mean. It was fun. Fun goes a long way at a roast. Andy and Bill knew they were out of their depth in a roast and seemed uncomfortable savagely making fun of their friends. So both came up with their own clever way out of a traditional roast set. And it was classic

To many people thin that he doesn't know what he is doing, or that he isn't funny or that he's ripping off someone else, but if you watch the whole roast (this video leaves out a lot of his jokes) as well as any other piece of work he has done then you will see that this version of satirical comedy has always been his style. I'm okay with people not liking it, that's their opinion, but too many people just don't get what eh is doing and think he has poor delivery.

By far the best part of the roast, Samberg had the presence of mind to know that the normal roast spiel was getting really fucking old and stale and decided to make fun of it while doing something new. Most of the people who don't like this either don't get what he was doing or like to have the same dumb jokes spoon fed to them over and over again

Nah, man. EVERY roast has one guy who comes on and does "purposefully bad" jokes. Bob Saget did it easily better and he didn't look like he was reading off a teleprompter. It seems being the bad comedian who does lame put downs and pretends to be oblivious to his own lameness schtick has quickly become a "typical roast" joke in and of itself.
