The song starts by asking if we are sleeping at the wheel and unaware, if we have been put in a trance by the population, and if we have been washed away by the tide. The tone implies that the answer is yes. The next stanza talks about how we are moving in the motions of the crowd, losing everything we were about, and how it is time to draw a line in the sand and take a stand. In the chorus, the singer asks for someone to talk to him and asks if he is all alone. He then questions if we are numb, if the feeling is gone, and what went wrong.
