Leveling
Rob Crow Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Since that day.
Puttered out and tuckered
and there just doesn't seem any way.
Put that down.
Get some time in.
Lock your room.
Pick an instance and play.
Can't you see the horde has gathered?
While we've been inside that tavern.
How am I gonna level?
The lyrics to "Leveling" by Rob Crow reflects the feeling of being stuck in a rut and not being able to move forward. The opening lines "We haven't played for awhile. Since that day." suggests that the singer has stopped doing something they love for some reason. This could be a metaphor for anything in life, such as a hobby or relationship. The lines "Puttered out and tuckered and there just doesn't seem any way. Put that down. Get some time in. Lock your room. Pick an instance and play." provide a solution to the stagnation. By locking themselves away and focusing on one thing (picking an instance and playing), they can manage to get time in and eventually level up.
The next two lines "Can't you see the horde has gathered? While we've been inside that tavern." suggest that while they've been wallowing, the world has kept on turning, and time has not stood still. The line "How am I gonna level?" could be another question about moving forward or finding a way out of a difficult situation. The metaphor of the game and leveling can be seen as a symbol for finding purpose in life or achieving personal goals.

Sas Quatch minus the bear has always been a band that managed moments of brilliance, but with just as many crappy passages in their music. Pachuca sunrise I always felt was a great example of that. Brilliant verse, utterly terrible, unenjoyable chorus, everytime I hear that song I always think: who's stupid idea was it to totally derail the entire song with such a lazy, ugly chorus like that.
