It was only until he had his first live performance when he sang 'Nothing Rhymed' by Gilbert O'Sullivan that his music career spawned. He attended Oxford Brookes where he did a 3 year music degree.

His first band was a band formed together featuring his high school mates, in which he composed, played electric guitar and sang as lead singer. His individual sound formed when he went solo and moved to acoustic material. Since the age of 18, he has been gigging solo, once or twice getting together with a backing band to perform songs better suited to having company and now in his home music studio with an eclectic range of instruments he has been creating songs that are infectious, poppy and experimental.

I've had this saw for about 3 years and it's really terrific. I actually use it a lot as a shop saw. Love the rack and pinion fence system-so fast and accurate. The riving knife can also be stored where the wrenches go (there are some cuts where it will get in the way). The mitre gauge is a piece of crap, and deserves no dedicated storage on saw. Build a boat/sled or get an Incra unit.

Rob, I have this same saw and was able to purchase the same stand on the DWE7491RS. YES, that stand is wonderful. Thanks for the idea for the miter gauge.

I love watching your videos and your tool reviews. I bought this saw earlier this year and I'm glad i went with this saw. It's powerful, it performs amazing and it's always a joy to use. I also like how light it is and how it doesn't feel like cheap plastic. Down sides are that it's loud(I can always wear hearing protections do) and the miter gauge and how it doesn't have a place to put it but you gave me an idea with the zip tights.

another good vid, I can tell you from having experience with both the larger Bosch table saw on gravity stand and the dewalt 780 with folding stand, i use the dewalt 70% of the time being
a trim carpenter and custom cabinet guy, also love that rack & pinion fence on the Dewalt
our business is all about compromise , is it not?

Looking soo young! I always use other people’s table saw (my friend let’s me take his for weeks at a time lol) but this girl is gunna be the purchase! I wish same everything but with a dash more rip capacity like their 28” bc my bosses have always had the big boy 32 1/2” so I’m very used to that. Good 6 yo vid!

I thought I had a pretty good saw (Ryobi RTS 31). It was certainly better than the portable saw I had before it. And I used it to finish my deck and make a few cabinets for a rental unit, but after using my friend's Dewalt for the past 6 months, I wasn't going to do another project on my old saw.
My favorite feature on the Dewalt is the accuracy of the rack and pinion adjusted fence. I like how there is a head on both sides of the fence that when slipped onto the locator pins and clamped, there is no slippage of the fence. And the rip scale is easy to adjust and accurate. No more using a tape at the front and back of the blade to make sure the fence is straight. No need to use a tape AT ALL. The scale is all I need.
I sold my old saw this morning and bought this one this afternoon. I just got it set up and I cant wait to get started on my next set of cabinets.

This is a truly great saw, especially for the price. Lots of positives especially the safety features and that fence. That fence places it so far above the competition. Throat plate could be better quality. Mine will not get flush. Close enough but not flush. One thing I laughed about though. You said you couldn't find a place for the mitre guage. Of course there is. Look around your shop. Somewhere I will bet you have a big round rubber trash can. maybe metal. Yep. Thats the correct storage place for it. Permanently. The trash can. (Save the rail though for a jig.)
So sad such a great saw has such a crap mitre guage. Throw it. Like most saws in this category you are far far better off building a simple cross cutting sled. This mitre guage is worse than most and that is really bad. If you can't build a cross cut sled you shouldn't have a real saw to begin with.

I've had this saw for about a year now...
and i just can't fault it !
your point with the stand... i have mine set up on my miter saw stand...i used the brackets for a miter saw, it's a little high.. but workable.
or i just use it on the floor.

Having a problem with the cam lever locking mechanism it seems to bind now and not just snap in place ?

For the miter gauge what I do is simply leave it in the table slot and put masking tape and done, but yes, that's the only part that you may lose if you don't find how to store it.

I noticed with the blade guard that the metal piece that sits over the blade is at an angle. I just bought this saw and when attaching the blade guard appears just as yours in the video. However, in the manual the metal part of the blade guard is completely parallel to the table? Can you not have the anti kick back and blade guard on at the same time? Thanks

Nouser Unrecognizable Yes. Just loosen the pin on the back (to keep ruler on front accurate) where the fence slides on and adjust fence to be parallel to mitre slot. Blade can also be adjusted to be parallel to mitre slot a well.

Lets be honest Rob, most if not all "trim carpenters" take off or never put on the writhing knife and guard,
in my own case, I do a number of plunge cuts on my table saw, neither the knife or guard allow me to do
that. How many table saws do you actually see with the guards in place ?

I throw the riving knife and blade guard away when I buy a table saw. Muct safer to see and be aware of the blade in front of you.
PS. I still have all my fingers and have been a Carpenter for over 40 years. (Knock on wood)

I've been doing carpentry for over 40 years now and the blade guard/anti-kick back device is the first thing to go into the garbage can, along with the miter gauge. Working with a table saw requires constant attention AND the ability to see the blade unobstructed! As to the miter gauge, it's my belief that table saws are solely for ripping and that there are far better ways to cut miters! I'd much rather have a tool that does one thing really well then multiple things not so well. Far as using the scales on the saw to set rip widths, I much prefer using a tape measure off the fence to a blade tooth. MUCH more accurate and another reason to jettison the kick back device. To avoid injuries listen to what the saw is saying to you during use. A lot of guys will continue feeding lumber even when the saw is clearly complaining! OSHA will strongly disagree with everything I've said here! Please don't follow my advice if you're not comfortable using a table saw.

This saw is light and fast, but still has the power you need to quickly get your work done. I'd recommend this tool for trim carpenters who work in tall residential buildings where climbing 2 or 3 flights can get old fast or flooring guys who work close to the ground, don't need large rip capabilities, and need to move their saw frequently during work.

I am looking at this model and the one under it but do you know the difference between the two. The 475 and 480, there is about a $100 difference between them and I don't want to over pay for not much more.

Those two saws are identical in every way except for max rip width and blade RPMs. The 7480 has a max rip of 24"; the 745 20". Max blade RPMs for the 7480 is 4800 rpm; the 745 is 3850 rpm. If you go to DeWalt's site you can compare those two models side by side. If ripping lots of large sheet goods is important, the 7480 has the edge. The 7480's 25% increase in RPMs is also a winner if productivity or cutting lots of hardwoods is important. Otherwise, the 745 is a fantastic saw if you don't need to rip large sheet goods often, don't need to worry about rapid productivity, or only need to cut hardwoods occasionally and time isn't a factor. Both are crackin' good saws. I'm a little torn myself.

I want to get into major home repairs, remodeling in the distant future. Will the 780 do what i need and them sum? Or should i get the 7491rs?
