Eternity
Robbie Williams Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Close your eyes so your don't fear them
They don't need to see you cry
I can't promise I will heal you
But if you want to, I will try

I'll sing this somber serenade
The past is done
We've been betrayed
It's true
Someone said the truth will out
I believe without a doubt, in you

You were there for summer dreaming
And you gave me what I need
And I hope you find your freedom
For eternity
For eternity

Yesterday when you were walking
We talked about your mom and dad
What they did that made you happy
What they did that made you sad
We sat and watched the sun go down
Picked a star before we lost the moon
Youth is wasted on the young
Before you know it's come and gone too soon

You were there for summer dreaming
And you gave me what I need
And I hope you find your freedom
For eternity
For eternity

For eternity
I'll sing this somber serenade
The past is done
We've been betrayed
It's true
Youth is wasted on the young
Before you know it's come and gone too soon

You were there for summer dreaming
And you are a friend indeed
And I hope you'll find your freedom
For eternity

You were there for summer dreaming
And you are a friend indeed
And I know you'll find your freedom
Eventually

For eternity
For eternity

Robbie Williams - Eternity
Eternidade

Nós sentamos e prestamos atenção no pôr-do-sol
Escolhemos uma estrela antes que perdêssemos
A lua

E você me deu o que eu preciso

Watching this after seeing his Netflix series. This song was definitely written about Geri Halliwell. This music is timeless, thank you Robbie ❤

@originalindiechick7999

Same! I think she definitely tipped off the press where they were though, it’s a very Geri move

@kezza9144

@@originalindiechick7999But Geri was just as famous and wealthy she didn't need to.

@allknowingoracle3277

@@kezza9144 agree why would she need to? She’d just had THREE consecutive number 1s by herself at the time of their summer of 2000 adventure. You only tip of the press if you need to. Geri was hot property then.

@GMServ1

Beautiful

@rafaelbpmelo

@@originalindiechick7999 Robbie said in the documentary that he judged it wrong at the time due to the emotional instability he had due to all the negative things that fame brought him. So why is this person with a fake profile still coming here to accuse Geri? Geri only did good for him and from the documentary you can see that it was his most genuine moment of happiness.

@reemqa1

I was 15 when this song came out in 2001, I was in love with it then and I am still in love with it now that I am 32. The only difference now, is that every time Robbie Williams says "Youth is wasted on the young, before you know it's come and gone too soon", it hits me real hard, because I just realized how the years went by so fast.
