Krieger taught himself to play guitar in a private school where his parents sent him after having some troubles in study. At first, he was interested in flamenco, but soon he expanded his playing to jazz, blues and folk.
Robby met Ray Manzarek in one of the meditation classes he was attending. Manzarek asked Krieger to jam with his fellow bandmembers John Densmore, who Robby knew already from a band called The Psychedelic Rangers, and a singer/poet called Jim Morrison.
Krieger wrote many of the band's classic songs. Light My Fire, Love Me Two Times, Touch Me and Love Her Madly were all written by him.
After The Doors, Krieger has become known as a jazz guitarist, has recorded multiple solo albums, and is currently playing, along with Ray Manzarek, in a group called Riders On The Storm. He has also guested on a number of projects organised by Billy Sherwood, including Return to the Dark Side of the Moon and From Here to Infinity by Jim Ladd's Headsets.

Love me twice today
Love me two times girl
I'm goin' away
Love me two times girl
One for tomorrow, one just for today
Love me two times I'm goin' away
Could not speak
Love me one time
Yeah, my knees got weak
Love me two times girl
Last me all through the week
Love me two times I'm goin' away
"The Doors" were known for their poetic and obscure lyrics, and "Love me two times" is no exception. The song is about a man who wants his lover to love him intensely and repeatedly, since he is going away for a while. He requests his lover to show him love two times each day, which will last him throughout the week as a sort of sustenance to hold on to while he is gone. The song is suggestive of physical desire, as he talks about his knees getting weak when his lover loves him only once. The main idea is that he wants to savour her love and passion for as long as he can because he knows that life can be very unpredictable, and he might not always be around to relish it.
The song is laced with a sense of melancholy, and the haunting guitar riffs and organ provide a perfect backdrop to the lyrics. The repeating line "Love me two times I'm goin' away" adds a sense of farewell to the song, making it not only about passion but also about parting. Robby Krieger's guitar-work is soulful and complements Jim Morrison's passionate vocals.

I would've never thought as a young teenager in the late '70s when I was starting to appreciate The Doors that I'd be able to pick up a guitar lesson online from Robbie Krieger himself. This is awesome.

Thank you Robbie. You and the Gang remain as relevant today as you were in the 60's. The sound of the DOORS is timeless.
