boss
Robert A. Allen Lyrics

Feign the trip and pull him in, cogs and gears they mesh within
Glowing lenses paint the target active
Spilling oil, I stumble on, escape can wait, must see this done
Heightened senses highlight subtle weakness
I can smell it, only so much they can teach us
Get up.
Hit a wall but I simply can't be beaten
More at stake than they believe, eyes draw out to open seas
This secret program must be anger
Feel the paint and topcoat boil, atoms bursting from the coils
Flames of plasma lick my armour
As we circle, one thing's clear: the battle's close is drawing near
A final push for perfect freedom
Cycle batteries to full power
A blaze of glory
Zero hour
Get up.
Get up!
The song "The Boss" by Robert A. Allen is a blues rock classic about a man in a relationship who has established himself as the dominant person in the relationship. The lyrics speak to the man’s position in the relationship as the one who pays the bills and assumes the role of the boss. The woman in the song is portrayed as discontent, but the man’s message is that as long as he is taking care of her financially, she has no right to complain.
The opening lines of the song see the man frustrated with the woman’s inability to listen to him. He is paying attention to her, and he expects the same in return. The lyrics turn ironic as the man tells the woman that she can do anything she wants as long as he is footing the bills. The man’s tone is confident and assertive, telling the woman that he is the boss and assumes a commanding position in the relationship.
The chorus repeats the message that as long as the man is paying the bills, he is in charge. He declares his entitlement to indulge in vices such as drinking and gambling, and the woman has no right to question his behavior. The lines that follow bring out the man’s entitlement as he takes charge of the woman’s behavior and sets rules for her.
Overall, the song sends a clear message that the man is in charge and that the woman must conform to his expectations. While many may see this as a harsh and unfair depiction of a relationship, the song does reflect a common stereotype of gender roles in the 1960s and 70s.

The movie really isn't about Allen or the crimes even. It's about Greysmith's obsession with the Zodiac.
Christifer Harrison

Antonio Diavolo
The movie also casts some doubt on Allen.

@unusual username you're right. If people based their opinion on JFK assasination on the movie, then they'd never know Jack Ruby, was actually Jacob Rubinstein with close ties to... well a country that was not very pleased with JFKs peace minded foreign policy in the middle east
Doug McDougal
Well observed and well said gentlemen.

This is the scariest and the most unsettling part of the movie. You watch it and some time after you realise, that the name of the real Zodiac (who was calling Graysmith and breathing on the phone) was probably never even mentioned. He was just there. On the background. All along. Kinda like lovecraftian horror.

They really screwed up by only searching his trailer instead of searching his house at the same time. He died a week before police were going to have a meeting and charge him with the Blue Rock Springs murder and I can’t remember the other charge.
